Norinco NS522 build: NEW MAG RELEASE

Im happy we could help with the decision to buy an NS522.

WIN333 eh?

I cant recall how they shot in my example, but based on price Im happy for you that they shoot as well as they do. Are you using an Elite scope or a Banner?

Thank you again, my other rifle is a TOZ-78-01 great gun but a bit uncomfortable to shot scoped in bench rest,
that's why I bought the NS522, fits in the caldwell front support like a glove.:sniper:
The scope is the old plain banner nothing fancy but fits the bill.

I would like to try a Weaver T-Series 36x or the 24x ...in the NS522 someone did it ???

About the ammo i tried CCI std velocity and the Winchester 222,333 and cannot tell the difference. I didnt tried others yet.....
The only problem with the Winchester 222,333 is the feeding, i find may be is the bullet's shape 1 in 10 get stuck:mad: and i have to feed it manually. No complains at all in the accuracy departement, a flyer or two but it is expected in bulk ammo.

Mine doesn't like to feed the 555 either. I think it's because it's more of a flat point (with hollow point) rather than a round nose.

Hi Camaroguy,
I guess that is the problem, i have to finish my stock and find another cheap ammo that shoots as well as this.....what are you using in your rifle?
Did you try targets at 100 mts.... mine groups like a shotgun with the 222,333,555 ammo

This evening I installed the safety pin spring that I had added two extra coils to. The trigger is nice and light, and it passes the bump test. I made a few spares, including a couple that I added three coils to....
I found my previous post about the safety pin trigger spring mod. The standard safety pin spring plus two additional coils are now in each gun, and they have worked fine after several trips to the range.

Hey All
Now it’s been a while since I visited CGN as I’ve had my head up the arse of the northern Alberta Tar Sand Beetle chasing after that elusive Canadian peso. Between that and the chores at home and general family life I haven’t even taken the time to play with the rifles I already have in the tickle trunk. So when I texted my brother in-law and told him I just bought a new in box NS522 from a colleague, who ironically purchased this rifle based on the experience I had while shooting my brother in-laws over a year ago, he told me to have a look at the thread he started on this riffle. well I was, well surprised.
He never told me he was famous even while he was drinking my beer. SOB was holding out LOL.
For those of you who haven’t put 2 and two together yet Father is my Bro in-law and I’m the one who he videoed shooting at the silhouette match that day. (which I had no idea he actually did. Damn paparazzi) A great day of bantering and knocking down steel turkeys. Cold as my wife’s heart though.
Seriously though, since that day I have been keeping my eye out for a good specimen that would fit the bill and finally have one on its way. Should be at home by the time I get off this hitch.
Like he said a few pages ago I have a really good shooting savage with a Benchmark matched barrel chambered for CCI Standard that has no problem shooting coloured push pins off the top of the target board at 50m with few misses. The only problem is I have put countless hours and probably close to 2k into this project to get it this way, and subsequently don’t use it for anything but range trips with the kids and when my 9 year old wants to shoot it I get nervous he’s gonna get boogers all over the thing.
After shooting the NS I wanted one to have that I could shoot all day long and not worry if the stock made from the rudder off a Chinese junk got dinged up. That being said reading this thread is making me second guess my choice of rifles to become the so called truck gun.
Now father and I have had several examples of very fine rifles to play with over the years. And for the exception of his FVSR, and my BSA Super Sport 5 both of which have regrettably gone onto new owners, I have yet to see a rifle with as much raw potential hidden away under layers of MSG as I have with the Eggroll. I just hope I don’t get hungry for more in a few hours.
At least I don’t have to do too much research on mods anymore. Hahahahaha
One question. Why isn’t this a Schtickky yet?

Have fun with your 522. They are such great rifles that someone even started a thread about them that runs to 103+ plus pages, if you can believe that.

Well after about 10 coats of Linseed Oil and about 8 months I got mine all finished up. Really dislike dark coloured wood stocks. I'm pretty happy with the finished product considering its chinese drift wood.

Took one of my NS522 to the range for plinking instead of grouping, surprised to get one tightest group for my 22lr grouping.
50 yards, 5-shot for each group.

Update on the trigger spring: I took one of my 522's to the range this morning. Nice light trigger. Too light, though. It would occassionally fire a round down range when I closed the bolt--once every 40-50 rounds or so. Anyway, I came home and changed springs, putting the factory spring back in. Then I called a friend and we discussed this. Well, he said he'd forgotten to tell me, but last time he shot my other 522, the same thing had happened to him. So, snap cap in place, I tried the other 522 this afternoon, and sure enough the striker would occassionally fall when I closed the bolt. Out came the safety pin spring, and in went the other factory spring. I had probably fired 200-300 rds thru each gun with the safety pin spring in place, but it would appear that they don't last much longer than that before the spring weakens. I may have to make up a batch of safety pin springs with more coils added, but for now, both of my 522's have the factory springs back in them.

Took the NS out at a real range for the first time (finally something different than plinking on the land). Was also shooting my M305 and good old LeeEnfield. Kept the NS for last but ended up with no time as the guys were closing early today... So, I only got to quickly shoot 3 mags on the same target (50 yards). But with the results from such shooting, I think the rifle is even more promising than I thought. Sorry for the unconvientionnal shots but was so impressed I still wanted to share.
