You buying the new SKS-15?

No, but I don't drive a lowered import car either. Lots of self righteous arrogant posters here though. The people that buy fun "trinket" guns are the ones growing our voting base. Treat them like crap, cry when your narrow view "good" firearms are banned. Black and red gun snobs are no better than skeet/trap snobs or the IPSC "warriors".

You can buy an SKS for $200 at CT and a Tapco mag for $30, with a little tinkering there's your mag fed SKS. I know the same company brought a bunch of really expensive SKS's to the market with a mag and added $300+ to the price. Wonder if anyone bought one?

You are comparing apples to oranges. So your math is off by quite a bit.

End of the day, it's still an SKS.

Yup.

But it's an SKS that has had the receiver modified to accept 10 round pistol mags, and has a rail already in place. Even if you kept the SKS stock and just added an adapter and rail you are looking at $750. Add in a pistol grip stock and a chopped barrel with a flash hider and you are well over $900

If I just wanted a restricted range toy I would get an AR. But this is Canada. :)

Well put. More people have fun buying and enjoying their guns the better.

All lipstick on a pig comments aside. Look at it for what it does. There is nothing on the market that will fire 10 rounds of 30 cal, made out of a decent looking chasiss with a full rail for optics and ar ergonomics (close to it anyways) for under 1k, period. I've got a Sks with tapco stock and mag adapter put together for 600 but it's ugly as f&$@k and feels cheap, the adapter gets loose and rattles around. This thing is a lot better put together. Plus the barrel is shortened and re crowned and that stupid bayo lug removed, it probably is a lot less front heavy than the Sks in stock trim

Nice setup to try and modernize the platform.
I too would like to see how easy takedown is for cleaning for those of us who shoot corrosive.
On the plus side it is lighter, and the SKS action is truely reliable and robust.

Face it guys...sadly our laws are so ridiculous that vendors have to come up with creative ways to supply us with modern type stuff to mount optics, etc..so we are forced to look at this type of approach.

Answer.....YES.

And I own, SKS, AKs (12.5), Vz58, CZ858, and probably more guns than most any of you own.
Another option on the market is always welcome. I will be buying one. And a Type 81 too when they are available.
I think the SKS 15 will be a cool rifle for the bush.
