Your a braver man than I to be out in that cold shooting. I bought a new shotgun today and passed on going to the club to try it because it was too cold . I like shooting at unknown distances to. It's good practice for hunting. I like to set up 2x4's with grooves in them on a couple of blocks of wood and shoot at dollar store round crackers. They are reactive yet biodegradable when you are done. About the same size as a squirrels head. Gets harder to hit them farther out.

What are those dollar store round crackers? Sound cool. I have some firebird ones from CT but they are not dollar store price point.
Just go to your local dollar store and see what they have available. Any crackers are good for shooting at. The smaller the better. I use the square ones that you use in soup at longer ranges. Crab apples in the fall. Cheap reactive entertainment and the squirrels get to eat when you're done.If we had P dogs I would rather shoot at them.....

ooooh, you meant biscuit food crackers, I was imagining some kind of fire-crackers. LOL my bad. I have been using dollar store paper clips holding dollarama red or yellow paper plates on my steel targets for plinking, and dollar store glow sticks on my steel gongs for night shoots.
That would still work pretty good!
In the cold I also make food colour dyed ice blocks.
When it warms up, I have this idea of setting up small bottles of pop in ziploc bags with mentos.

I know a guy who use to shoot at grapes. Don't think they are cheap targets anymore.LOL
In the past we shot at empty shotgun hulls filled with water out past 75 yards . They are only around 3/4" wide so it makes for a challenging target if there is a bit of breeze.

Nice thing is no wind to contend with. Will actually get to run a few target rifles and not have to wonder if wind had an effect on group size.Wish someone would build a 100 meter indoor. That would be a busy place for sure.
