Norinco NS522 build: NEW MAG RELEASE

Took mine out to my range, aka my back field, this morning.
-24 ish before the sun was fully up to provide some BTU, blowing sideways 35km wind.
Just want to share that it was quite an eye opener how much the cold caused the bulk Fed stuff to produce flyers, which didn't happen on warmer days.

I'm not much of a fair weather bench MOA kinda guy, more into adverse weather positional shooting from random distances.
You folks will likely be horrified of how I don't tweak and baby the NS522, it's my field 22lr.
And you guys would probably despise my "groupings", I'm super happy with Fig 11 bull or even IDPA zero zone at 100m while dealing with my gear+weather+huffing puffing positions, which I often fails to achieve. It provides me with an excuse for some walking/running exercises.

Oh and I admire that big time! Im not much of a woods-walker/hunter type, but 90% of my shooting is offhand. Anyone that can do 3 ish hours shooting offhand with a 11+ pound single shot isnt shooting for groups!

Seriously man, love your description.

Your a braver man than I to be out in that cold shooting. I bought a new shotgun today and passed on going to the club to try it because it was too cold . I like shooting at unknown distances to. It's good practice for hunting. I like to set up 2x4's with grooves in them on a couple of blocks of wood and shoot at dollar store round crackers. They are reactive yet biodegradable when you are done. About the same size as a squirrels head. Gets harder to hit them farther out.

We should all just move to the tropics.

Wait, what country has Canadian like quality of life and similar gun control legislation?

Right.?

What are those dollar store round crackers? Sound cool. I have some firebird ones from CT but they are not dollar store price point.

Just go to your local dollar store and see what they have available. Any crackers are good for shooting at. The smaller the better. I use the square ones that you use in soup at longer ranges. Crab apples in the fall. Cheap reactive entertainment and the squirrels get to eat when you're done.If we had P dogs I would rather shoot at them.....

ooooh, you meant biscuit food crackers, I was imagining some kind of fire-crackers. LOL my bad. I have been using dollar store paper clips holding dollarama red or yellow paper plates on my steel targets for plinking, and dollar store glow sticks on my steel gongs for night shoots.

Mmm scotch mints...
I know a guy who use to shoot at grapes. Don't think they are cheap targets anymore.LOL
In the past we shot at empty shotgun hulls filled with water out past 75 yards . They are only around 3/4" wide so it makes for a challenging target if there is a bit of breeze.

That would still work pretty good!

In the cold I also make food colour dyed ice blocks.

When it warms up, I have this idea of setting up small bottles of pop in ziploc bags with mentos. :)

Hahhahah!

Great idea!

We are not allowed such fun stuff here. Too many blokes didnt clean up after

I'm at 123 Comefindme Lane...
I can't wait until April. We have a 50 meter indoor range opening less than 10 minutes from my house. Private land is over an hour away.

Nice thing is no wind to contend with. Will actually get to run a few target rifles and not have to wonder if wind had an effect on group size.Wish someone would build a 100 meter indoor. That would be a busy place for sure.

I'm very thankful I have my own private 200m shooting spot on my property. But it has the tendency of making my restricted stuff safe queens.

I would prolly get back into airguns if an indoor range was available. If you have never held a Diana 54 in .177 then you wouldnt understand.
