Hunting with black rifles and semis. Who here does?

Might have to take this for a spin, too....

where do you find that in x39 in Canada? I've been looking forever and sticking to SST
I can buy it almost anywhere, even at the gas station. I thought it was common. I actually started buying it for the brass.

I guess it's performed well for you then? Have you taken anything with it past 100-150 yards?
My experience is limited to coyote, mostly inside 100. I've yet to have a deer cross my XCR, but I keep trying.

Ammo at gas stations? Man, sounds like a place I'd want to visit sometime.

Yeah I've been considering 7.62x39 for deer because I'd like to eventually get a non-restricted semi-auto other than my SKS for hunting purposes, but I like thirty cals so I don't think I'd want a 6.5 Creedmoor or something. Was wondering about the performance of it, I hear its supposed to be similar to 30-30 in which case it should be fine then. Of course I'm still waiting to see if NEA is gonna come out with their non-restricted sub $1500 semi-auto NEA 102 in 308.

No, it's rare as hell man. I've literally looked for years for it. When I visit a friend of mine who moved to Chilliwack I'll have to keep my eye out for it in the gas stations. If you can tell me exactly where I'd really appreciate it.

I've bought it from the Husky at Sylvester and Lougheed. The Co-Op just before Sylvester doesn't carry it but has other stuff.
The last I bought it was the store in Mission across from Hical, can't remember name.
Wanstalls also sells it.

I wonder what the brass is worth... ;)

just checked and wanstalls doesn't sell it, or at least list it under 7.62x39. But thanks for the reply. I really want some lol

EDIT: Nevermind, it's just out of stock. Also interesting in that it's 110gr, never seen that weight in a x39 before

The KSG is my go to bear gun, haven't popped one with it yet but that was my own choice, had a small blackie walk up to 6 feet from me once, I didn't think he would walk right to me ( didn't know I was there). With a slug in the pipe and me ready to rock I wasn't too worried! I said "back up" and he ran- didn't know bears understand English!

Took the M-305 a couple times to a stand but it's a bit heavy for walking and with the small peep sights you lose the light a long time before a scope.

A friend got his moose tag last year and took his m-305 but didn't get to use it.

I have, just black bears and wolf nothing wild or exciting, and while I like shooting black rifles I struggle to warm up to them on account of average weight and bulk. In .308 class cartridges they're a lot larger physically than a nice single, double, or bolt by nature of being running machines that need to load themselves. They're also too heavy for mountain hunting when my Kimbers come in under 5lbs pre scope. Absolutely support the right of those that like them to enjoy them in the field and you'll never see me sneer at a hunter so armed, they're just not for my type of hunting.
