Walther PPQ M2 5” or PPQ Match! Hands down the best trigger of any striker fired HG.
For the win.
I would add for accuracy and trigger reset the the PPQ rules but not by much. In any order my experience, from shooting the pistols the following would be a must look:
PPQ M2 or Match - aside from colour the triggers are the same, build quality, and accuracy. Changing the sights if the shooter decides to is a five minute task for both the front and rear sight
SIG 320 - for the trigger, accuracy, modularlity and build quality. This pistol is going to be around for the next 35 years with more support than anyone will ever need due to the US Army contract. The early teething problems have been sorted out.
M&P Gen 1 or 2 - price, grip, Apex trigger, multiple variants and solid frame.
Springfield XD & XDM Series, a sleeper in a crowded field.
If the new Gen 5 Glock is significantly better than the average of the past, then the Gen 5's are worth a look. 1- thru 4 are dated compared to the above pistols and some have issues for high use users.
I have not shot the HK models, the Beretta APX or some of the others mentioned above.
All of the above are dead nuts reliable. All are more capable than most shooters. For playing the action shooting games, which is all we really can do with our pistols other than shooting at dots on paper.... all will do.
For bush carry, based upon a respected friends comments, the Glock in 10MM. When you really need a pistol in a hurry.
To the OP buy what you can afford and like. Every pistol has their fan club. If you are just starting out buy a used Gen 1 or 2 M&P and shoot the heck out of the gun. Spend the $300 or more you would have to spend on some of the others on ammo and have some fun.
Take Care
