Let's see some pic's of your SxS's & O/U's

I just cleaned up a pair of Browning guns for the Uplands. Top is a 1977 BSS Sporter 20 gauge with 26" barrels, the bottom is a 1984 Citori Superlight 12 gauge with 28" barrels ans 2 3/4" chamber... the clown I bought the BSS from said that it was mint with Mod/IC chokes, turned out "mint" meant dings, scratches and with bores that had the chokes completely reamed-out to Cylinder... I refinished the stock and had thin wall chokes installed. The Superlight had the original buttplate removed and the stock base cut flat for a truly hideous 1 1/2" waffle pad, so I ordered in an original hard Browning buttplate and sent the stock down to Vic Tomlinson to have the curve recut and plate installed... he did a nice job and I lost only 1/4" off the original factory LOP, both guns finished at 14"... perfect for my field guns.

Great job! Both guns look perfect. What products did you use to refinish the stock on the BSS? The satin finish looks really sharp!

Sanded it down from 220 to 400 grit, took out the scratches and dings, then used six coats of Tru-oil, with a light rub with "0000" steel wool between each coat, after the last coat I did another rub with the "0000" until it brought it down to the sheen that I liked... kinda "satin(ish)." Then rubbed the buttplate with acetone to remove scratches and restore the sheen (off the stock).

Both are very "wieldy" and quite light... I prefer a straight English stock or a swept POW design for Upland gunning.

Factory choked Full and Full, it's tight...probably too tight for grouse hunting over the dog. Time to experiment with some spreader loads.

The general consensus is that there were never any Supers made in 16 gauge from the factory but some guns were converted to 16. There has been rumors that Val Browning had one made for him at the factory but that is largely a rumor as far as I can tell. If the one your talking about is a converted gun then it's kind of ho hum.

My understanding is that two 16 gauge Superposed were made by Browning. There is a dealer in Texas who claims to have handled one of the two. He said he liked it. Haha.

I'll bet he did!

The one that Val Browning may or may not have had made from the factory is supposed to be on a 20 gauge frame, that would be exquisite if true.

I have a beretta BL-2 12 gauge with speed trigger**Image and video linking functions will be enabled after you have contributed more to the forum****Image and video linking functions will be enabled after you have contributed more to the forum****Image and video linking functions will be enabled after you have contributed more to the forum**

They offered me a make I couldn't refuse: I'm now the proud owner of one of these beauties, a Beretta 687 EELL Diamond Pigeon. The photo in the case seems to be of a very early edition; the engravings on mine are of the usual North American "game scenes" of snipe, pheasant, and woodcock (as in bottom photos). I have to use stock photos here because I can't post personal ones due to forum limitations. I like the wood on mine better, too.
