Semi-Sten: CFC AND RCMP approved and Home at Last

The BD38 rifles were not on the market when I started my project, and attempted to register it 2-1/2 years ago. Besides, as far as I am concerned, the BD3008 is a variant of the sten.
Although the sten in my books is a cheapened variant of the Lanchester, which is a chinese copy of the Bergman MP28.

Imitation is the greatest form of flattery.

You and me both :(

I will send them another email (this will be the 3rd one) asking them for an update on the testing. This whole process is getting somewhat rediculous. It has been over 2-1/2 years since I first tried to register this gun, and is now nearing 3 months since I sent them the sample to test, which they said would be done by the end of July.
 
I just found this thread by accident and I have to say, Great Job Sir! Ah you might get messed around a bit more by CFC and the RCMP but at least you did it. You are a testament to the pure Gun Nut. I can't wait to hear the results.

Just trying to peek inside their heads and guess why it's taking so long (there's got to be some reason)...it should be approved. It's a virtually bulletproof (no pun intended) semi auto design that will jam before it could fire more than one round in succession.

well stencollector id say you will be waiting ALOT longer my project (not to be name) has been there allmost 1 year

they keep changeing the rules and thier minds as they go

Maybe what Stencollector was told about the case being probably over by the end on July, it was meant July 2008 ! :evil: Good thing you're a patient guy Stencollector Lol. Well, I always have been patient but now, I guess I'm becoming patient enough to let my wife convince me to make that "last" child.

You know what? The idea of having no more sleep, no more ###, no more hobbies ... Naaaaaaaaaa! :jerkit: I guess I just ain't THAT patient yet! :eek:

Intersting to note that this thread is now approaching 5000 views. It may well catch up to the milsurp survey or the entire SKS forum by the time it is done.

Battle of the Bulge milsurp match will be here in Shilo mid December. It would sure be nice to have the SAS-3 back by then.
 
Well, still nothing it would seem. As my son came back from Afghanistan in one piece eventhough he almost got a direct hit from a RPG rocket, I now have plenty of time with him to build (whenever and IF ever we see the green light for that project) a SAS3 unrestricted or 2, one for each one of us.

That kid was lucky like hell as the rocket blew right behind him as it went through the window he was shooting from. :50cal: He had a big concussion and lost some of his hearing but it could be temporary. Anyway, now we have a father and son project waiting so let's hope we get some good news in the upcoming months. :sniper:
 
Tiraq sent me a copy of the plans to use an AR-15 trigger mech, but I was already 90% done my kit at that time. It involves machining the origional bolt, which from experiance I can tell you are surface hardened and a bugger to work with. Mind you, the British bolts can vary greatly on the depth of hardness. The LB bolts are more consistant and the hardness goes a lot deeper.

I am not sure using the AR trigger mech will make it go any easier through the CFC. My kit was functioning reasonably well before it was sent in.

just read the entire thread... went from 'wow, thats cool' to 'hey maybe i should build one of these' to 'that sure looks like fun to build, im definitely getting one' to a steadily sinking, deflated feeling by the end of it as stencollector waits and waits for approval.

good luck man, hope you get it back with a registration cert. its a real shame our gun laws have come to this.
