an official Gsg-16 with 9 inch barrel coming soon

i too am confused with cabelas statement but i believe its retractable , simply bcos they put an extra long adapter to the back of the cover (see cabelas pic) so that means even if an owner removes the stock, from the back of the buffer to the muzzle is 26".

I dont get why they chose an obvious chinese clone of an MFT stock rather than just going straight to a fixed MP5 style. Maybe other than getting sued by HK once already.

Anyone know with the ar buffer tube style stock will you be able to replace it and attach a airsoft mp5 style stock, also is the muzzle device threaded or non removable?

Im betting the muzzle device is held in place by the allen screw that held the fake silencer on the 16" version. With how far back the muzzle device is shown (right to the plastic housing) I think that there is no threading on the barrel. Worked well for the silencer, shouldn't be a problem at all.

going with mp5 fixed stock is not an option for reason you pointed out. the aliexpress (maybe) stock is the cheapest and quickest fix to comply with the rcmp lab. GSG rep says they do plan to make a stock from scratch for the 9" but it will take time.

I guess maybe I just find it odd magpul or MFT don't sue non-chinese companies for ripping off their stocks on factory guns. Seems to happen a lot.

I mean stop isn't going to happen but they try at least. Realistically you can't stop China from counterfeiting anything you can stop its sale and promotion outside of China.

Anyway not really going to change anything just seems a little trashy for one company in the industry to rip off another.

I see a big difference between a knockoff Luis Vuitton bag being sold at the Richmond Night Market, and a knockoff gun part being sold at a major retailer like Cabelas.

That said, it has me wondering, who is responsible? Lets just assume there is a case to be made that these are knock off stocks, who could be sued? Is GSG liable? What about Cabelas and the other retailers selling them? What about what ever company sells them to GSG in the first place?

Also, are those stocks even patented in Canada and/or Germany? As far as I am aware a US patent doesn't protect you outside of the US, and I could certainly see a US gun company not giving a #### about whether their stuff is patent protected in other jurisdictions due to export laws/restrictions...

Yup probably right that they have no protection but just seems like a ####ty thing to do is all i'm saying.

Do we have any confirmation that this is a knock off/clone minimalist stock and that GSG didn't order stocks directly from MFT to use on these? Granted the picture on Cabelas's site is missing the MFT logo on the stock but I don't know if that's representative of the actual product.

I think we all have about 1,000 questions and until someone gets their hands on one and gives a detailed take down its just gonna be guesses <shrug>

i dont feel the same way as you bcos im guilty of buying knock-off.

i had a choice of buying H&K 22lr PDW stock for US$350 (C$455) or a knock off for US$60. you know which way it went.

couldn't help myself, preordered the new GSG16 carbine with 9.25" barrel. I think the stock looks Great ! a lot better the the existing stock. Here's hoping it's as reliable as my current GSG16. Considering it isn't much more then the original and you get a much nicer stock, adjustable trigger and the 9.25" barrel I'm in.

Did you pre-order from Cabelas or is somewhere else also running pre-orders? Cabelas is just down the road from me so I do shop there a fair bit, but I try to avoid buying guns from them unless they have a way better price than anywhere else.

congrats, if this is your first time with the gsg-16, may i suggest you also take CC1 mini mag along with other brands. your gsg-16 may not like certain brands but seems to love CCI. nothing worst than a new gun constant FTF and FTE.

definitely nicer stock, i dont know what they were think with the old one. fugly and mag held in vertically? who does that? lol.

Yes Port Moody is close to an hour to Abby. I've moved a few times since I lived in Port Moody though. I figure its still close enough - it still gives people a ballpark idea of where I am at. Close enough for EE purposes.
