Update On Ontario Restricted Transfer Times

I don't know about in Ontario, but here in AB they seem to be doing transfers at random. Some people wait 2 weeks, some 6-8. After waiting 6 I called the AB CFO and they did the transfer over the phone in about 30 minutes. BC guys seem to be in the same boat. I have no idea if the Ontario CFO will be helpful, but may be worth a polite call.

I have one incoming and 2 out going. I really don't care anymore. The joy of taking possession of my new handgun is almost gone. Hopefully it will come back but honestly, I feel like a Soviet era commoner in a breadline waiting to get my weekly groceries. This country is kaput.

Nope. Not a chance… I was going near my buyers place last Friday and the transfer is very near the top of the Q so asked for an ATT to take it to his place and was denied. I’m thinking they borrowed the Transport Canada’s motto, “We’re not happy until you’re not happy “, unfortunately…

June 1st still nothing
June 3rd still nothing
June 6th still nothing
I don’t have references number the business asked to not give any references by the cfo so individuals don’t call

No joy in this thread. Looks like nothing is getting approved. V:I:

Sucks Doesn't it???

However, How many people who panic bought are in Ontario? Of those how many are members of this site? Then How many of those members are posting when things get approved. If the CFO is approving 500 a week, its likely only 2-3 are actually getting posted here. Slow yes but I transfers are getting approved.

I submitted a second complaint to the ON CFO in hopes they will implement batch transfer approvals.

"Hello Ombudsman;

As follow up to my complaint, I would like to suggest an efficiency that the CFO could avail itself of with little effort.

Currently the CFO completes transfers for Restricted firearms in the order they are received. If the CFO was to change this policy and complete ALL transfers for the licensed individual at the same time, it would eliminate duplication of effort. It would also significantly speed up AND reduce the workload for the understaffed office of the CFO.

In my case, following the planned 'freeze' on handguns by the Fed Gov, I made restricted purchases from seven different firearms retailers. If the CFO was to process ALL of my transfers in a batch, rather than in the order they are received, the CFO would immediately become more efficient, reduce workload AND eliminate the unreasonable wait times for transfers to be completed. In Ontario restricted firearms owners are waiting more than 3 MONTHS for a transfer, whilst CFO's in other provinces are completing them in days or weeks.

Please have the ON CFO implement batch transfer approvals.

Kind Regards
Jay"

Thanks for that, Jay.
I'm coming up on two months and may send a second complaint.

I figure making a founded complaint with a polite request suggesting an efficiency 'should' get some attention...

Maybe I'm a dreamer? But EVERYONE should make similar polite complaints.

Cheers
Jay
