What's your all-time favorite black rifle? Not because it's the "best".... but just because it's cool to you

Beautiful. I've always wanted a Galil, but I was too damn young to get in on them before they were banned.

MP40. ;)

Best SMG I ever shot.
Mp40 is definitely a fun one with the perfect automatic rate of fire.

The PPSH and Uzi are also fun in FA.

I have yet to try a Tommy.

so many black guns are great in their own ways,

There are things I like about the G36C l, MP5, Tar21, FAL, the many models of AR I have tried, and the handful of others.

Some that I would like to try: Mac10, Tommy gun (specifically the Chicago typewriter version as the military Thompson is cool.. but...), AUG, G3, Famas, and VHS.

Every "black firearm" is a unique work of purpose and need-driven, design and manufacture, frequently incorporating new materials, coatings and associated technologies to improve reliability, accuracy, reduced weight and increased durability (in that order of importance). Many military firearms designs are inextricably tied to the historical events in which they featured most prominently. This combination of design, engineering, military science and history is precisely what makes the study of military firearms designs such a fascinating subject - at least for me. Each "black gun" tells its own unique story tied to many of the most significant moments in human history. The study of military firerarms designs has for me, transcended a basic understanding of the "tools of my trade" as a professional infantry soldier of 34 years. I have always been deeply interested in military firearms and their various design characteristics, ever since my Junior High School days, when I joined the Army Cadets and was exposed to Canada's then suite of service firearms. It was a match made in heaven and I never looked back, launching my own life-long collection as soon as I turned 18 with the purchase of a Colt AR15 Sporter 2 which I regret selling to this day. I am very fortunate that I have usually be able to acquire rather than sell, prefering to expand my collection of key small arms designs of the late 20th and early 21st Centuries whenever possible (and where space allows!). Chalk a lot of that up to a very patient and understanding Wife of 34 years, as there is no way that I could have amassed what I have without her consent and support. I remain hopeful that a strong Conservative majority government will once again permit the use and transfer of the currently-prohibited firearms within my collection. How cool would THAT be?

Here are a few for you, Daver_II:

You should if you get the chance. I shot one in Vegas, like Gun Jesus says the hype is real. Very controllable, the people I was with got bored and left because I kept asking for more ammo.

The 249 was right up there too. So easy to keep on target.

I don't gamble but Vegas is expensive for me too. I spent about 4 hrs shooting (Thompson/249/grease gun).

I spent the next two days walking around with full wood.

I’m a simple guy

Old school Galil or a DD MK18

Both just scratch an itch that needs to be dealt with
