Yeah, I know what you mean! There is something to be said for the light weight and lively handling of the original AR15. Just because.
Here's my MP5A3 for ya! (I already showed my G3 a few pages back)G3, or anything else roller-delayed.
Through the RCN, I'm qualified on the MP5 - excellent sights, and with a little practice the whole mag goes into 1 big hole even on full-auto.
I was once exchanged to a German Navy vessel for a few days, and 2 h after I got there they were having a G3 practice shoot - they throw balloons over the side, pull the ship a few hundred yards away, and have at'em.
Their shipboard rifles have Hensoldt 4x scopes, and for the shoot they download machine gun ammo and pull the tracers - so shooters can see what their rounds are doing.
I was so excited to take a whack at this, and they said "Sorry you can't, you're not qualified on the rifle" and I responded with "I'm qualified on the MP5, does that count?"
It did.
Not only did I gain an appreciation for what bullets hitting the water really do (because I could see it), but I was amazed at how smooth-shooting and comfortable this thing made the 7.62. Also, HK diopter sights are the cat's meow especially at longer ranges.
I would love to be able to have various configurations in 5.56, 7.62 or 6.5CM, and .300BLK replace all my other rifles.
Vector SS-77 GPMG, with the Colombian National Police.
Very tactical.....I'd digging the "tactical" shooting mats lifted from the nearest cabana!

Hmmm..... tough question! If I were to base my response on the particular firearm's era, historical confict involvement, and overall "black guns" impact, then I would have to give the nod to the original, 1960 Artillerie Inrichtingen-manufactured Armalite AR10 rifle chambered in 7.62x51mm NATO. The follow-on historical impact is obvious based on the firearm's close resemblence to its progeny, the venerable M16 Rifle:

You should have put a red dot on your BRS - it really changes the gun for the better. Perhaps yours preceeded the arrival of the Picatinny Top-Covers?Closest I've ever owned to a black rifle was the Radom brs 99, which I sold years ago. I liked it for the most part although the irons were crap, and the five round mags on a PPC were dumb cuz it was labeled a rifle.
But, I'd still like to own an AK. I guess the Sks and hopefully m10x will have to do. Never cared for the AR, too many damn small parts.
The P90 is a fun gun, but I wouldn't necessarily want to depend on it as a dangerous wildlife killer even if mine were NR.. The cartridge is just too dubious, especially in the 40gr civilian varmint loadings that we plebs are authorized to purchase:Mine would be the P90 and the AR-10, as shown above and said by others.
