Planning a build using these parts:

10/22 Ruger Takedown.
Dlask 9" barrel
Dlask XB-5 Linear Comp/Muzzle Break. I think this is 2" length.
Midwest 8" handguard
Midwest 10/22 chassis
JMAC "FOLDING STOCK"

It it going to pass N/R?

Complete build is a screenshot of Dlask Arms'.

Thank you very much.Dlask XB-5 Linear Comp.jpgJmac Folding Stock.jpg1022 Takedown Midwest Chassis.jpg

No. Reciever is like 6.2", 9" barrel, 2" FH. Is 16.2"

Then back of the chassi and folding adapter maybe. 2.5" so only 18.7" of the 26" OAL required. You still be shy like 7.3"

When I had a krinker plinker needed a 16inch barrel to maintain the 26" OAL folded.

Why not ask the parts supplier?
Seems to me they would be the resident expert on the assembly you are contemplating.
Why would midwest care? Dlask cannot control what stock a person puts on using their barrel. Midwest cannot control what barrel someone uses for their chassi. Or what adapter or stock they use.

It be up to the person building it to make sure they're keeping it legal.

It be like Asking Toyota if Chevy rims will work.

If you truly want to keep it NR with your planned setup. You need to permanently install a rod or something on the stock that extends out when folded, then when you unfold the stock. Runs along the side of the reciever.

It won't even be close. OkayShooter has it right, but here is a picture of my 10/22 that will illustrate. Mine has a 12" McGowan barrel and an A2 flash hider, so it's already longer than what you are thinking of.

Note that the 26" OAL minimum is about halfway between the pistol grip and the butt. If you add any kind of folding stock you will be too short. You could run the folder for looks and pin it open if the design allows it, but you won't get anything folding to work out.

Maybe a dumb question but I’m going to ask it anyway. Does the flash hider or for that matter a muzzle brake count in the calculation?

I know this isn’t rimfire but it will still apply for the overall minimum non restricted length of 660mm.

I built a manual action 556 using an 8.5” barrel with an SBI receiver set. In order to keep it non restricited I used a magpul Fixed MOE stock with an extended .80” pad and a 1.69” long linear compensator. That put me at 670mm. With a regular telescoping stock it would have made it a restricted rifle under the minimal length. So with a folding stock it would have made it a restricted firearm.

In the case of wanting to use a folding stock with the dlask 9” barrel unless the take down receiver is more than 17” long it will be restricted.

I was looking at this one like you suggested if folding will not work.

No it does not.

I thought a muzzle device does not count towards barrel length, but it does counts towards over all length?

Yes these do count towards overall length. They do not count towards barrel length. This is one of those simple things people like to make complicated and argue over.

As per Dlask, barrel attachments are included in the OA length.
