RF224 11.7” Review?

I have been shooting my RF224 for a few weeks now. I have eyesight issues but initially shot it with the flip-up sights with bullseye accuracy at 20 yards (my range is indoors). I now have a 4x scope on it with illuminated sights and at 20 yards I can hit the 10X ring no problem. No chance to check it at longer ranges yet. My only complaint, and it's a minor one, is the bolt is heavy and like Ruger 10/22s, no hold-open after last shot. As a result, CCI Mini-Mags or Federal Champions or better are all that it will cycle reliably. It accepts every 10/22 magazine, original and Butler brands, with no issues. I did add a compensator to it, so that may or may not be helping with the accuracy.

No last round bolt lock back?

I think this size of rifle would be great for IPSC mini rifle duty but would want bolt lock back. And it would need to be somewhat accurate and reliable.

My understanding is that ut doe
No last round bolt lock back?
Weve known the 1022 and many other semi autos dont have a last shot bolt hold open for a long time.
what's worse is that my understanding is that it doesn't have a manual action lock either like the 1022 has, this will be a chamber flag required firearm to show clear in a rack or slung.

Mine will be here hopfully this afternoon and I'll get to fiddle with it and get to know it.

Let us know what you think.

It has arrived, initial fit-finish-feel is all good, i was quick to spread the factory sights out a bit and add all the accessories ive already bought for it (less A1 birdcage thats on the way from #####) very happy with it, there's a chance ill be able to take it to the range tomorrow afternoon to test it, some people/reviews have mentioned needing to sand there promag 597 mags to fit, i have no issues with the 5 i have on hand.

I took it out of the box and other then an exterior wipe down so it wasn't greasy while adding parts i did not clean it, i did give it a squirt of rem oil when we got to shootin.
It ain't a GSG that's for sure, i like the feel and ergonomics better then the gsg but the reliably is not there, with 597 mags atleast, no issues with included magazines, stovepipes, missfeeds, shells getting stuck long ways on the charging handle and edge of ejection port, 5-6 malfunctions per mag.
Keyholing with federal range pack ammo 40gr 1200fps variant.
It did start working better near the end, tried 5 different types of ammo doesnt really matter what you're using
Gunna take it apart for a deep clean tonight and may make it back to the range tomorrow.
Hopefully just needs to be wore in lol
Would not be a fun first gun.

I took it out again after a full teardown and clean, at this time i cant recommend one to anyone
K, but isn't is running fine/"no issues" with the included 10/22 mags, you said? So, the issue is the 597 adapter/mags. {Which PRO-Mags suck in any platform imo}
So, just ignore that platform, & re-assess with 10/22 mags only. The whole adapter thing, it's there, but, it seems to be where most issues arise on this .22.{I think allot to do with those 22rnd Pro-Mags}

My experience with the 2x supplied '10/22' mags + 4/5 other 10/22 aftermarket mags{Butler Creek/Steel Lips} I have had no {consistent} issues. Haven't put a ton through it yet, but it runs well for me, only used CCI Mini Mag.
On top of the 7/8 various 10/22 mags I have for it, I put a 30rnd -Yes-Pro-MAG drum, all you can get for it, which I just keep it permanently in that adapter {only 597 mag I bought for this to try} it's actually worked fine, but only loaded/ran it once so far.

*A side note: I've read a couple people, & even the guy on utube that did a review, complaining on the magazine release. It works perfectly if you access it underneath. No need to even hit the release on the right side. It sticks a little below' the trigger guard, dead centre. Even worked it with shooting gloves on easily. + it would be simple enough to extend that a little/ad something to it, if need be.

There seems to be people reporting conflicting things.... some people have been able to run the 597 mags with the adapter, most seem to have issues. It sort of sounds like quality control varies.

Hopefully the Turks will make some adjustments to the design down the road and make it even more compatible with Ruger parts while increasing the out of the box reliability.

The included rotary mags are about as reliable as 597 mags with only 10 rounds loaded in them,
I took it back apart lastnight to lap the chamber as it could only pull a fired case out about 3/4, almost like the chamber was tapered the wrong way, i sanded it out with some 600 grit, call me bubba but its working much better, the range was closed today, so i grabbed a coffee and headed up the bush.
Loading mags to 15 rounds it is actually useable at this point, not perfect, which may be on account of the promags, but lets face it, none of us bought this to use 10 round 1022 mags, if you're satisfied settling for that, I'm glad your happy, but in the end, your gun isn't workin as intended.

No one’s buyin this. To be satisfied with 10 round mags.
The mag adapter is included too. So that would force one to assume that 597 mags would work just as good imo ?
I agree, if they include the adapter and claim it works..... it should work.

That said I'd be fine with an ultra reliable 10/22 clone and flush mags for a basic starting point.

It appears that they released a different version in the USA
I watched that last night. After the abysmal performance dude had, I started looking around for that variant. There's a LGS in Hanwell, New Brunswick that has them listed @ $420(on sale too, wonder why 🤪). So apparently they have made their way into the country. Buyer beware

Why the h#ll they keep calling ALL these .22's the same model #. Clearly different operating systems etc. Mehh..I like the 11.7". I think for the price, that model is well worth it..at least my experience anyhow.
