1022 Tommy Gun Kit

If these things come to Canada I'll be getting one for sure! Looks like superior craftsmanship from the pictures. Very cool concept. Big thanks to everyone involved doing the legwork to get these here. It's great to see so many new products hitting our market. Cheers!

Maybe I'm totally wrong here but why can't I just go to the US and bring one of these back? There is no barrel, reciever, trigger group, or mag and those are the only controlled parts. All I would be bringing back are a stock, grip, a cover for the reciever, and a bunch of bolts/pins.

Could you go there, buy it and bring it back? I have no idea.
I don't know how stocks sets and the other parts are classified.....

If I'm not mistaken, I think that's what FunGun and Alberta TR are determining; whether there are any restrictions. If there are none, getting all the appropriate paper work done to export/import them is just a matter of time.

In my mind, this kit should be easier than the Krinker-Plinker kit (which had a barrel as part of the kit) to get out of the U.S. to us here. I am hoping that it works to our favour; it is one quality kit from the looks of it.

It is also perfectly legal to purchase one in the states and bring it back. There are no prohibited parts. Need to do a road trip...

I think you are misinformed. The Dept of State has a different spin on what is and what isn't going to require export permits. Although not prohibited parts they are still firearms parts therefore controlled goods.
If you do decide to just drive down and buy 1, best to take a really expensive car. I know Homeland Security prefers nice rides:rolleyes:

Hmmmm, no so sure that's a good idea.....
Although I really want one, I think I'll wait for all the legal hurdles to get resolved.

Hey ATR, did FunGun have a ballpark on when he thought a decision might be reached on an export permit?

When I spoke with him at SHOT he told me he was going to get onto it as soon as he got back home.
Knowing the DOS this may take several weeks.

I order parts periodically from Numrich and have never had any problems. Some of them have been well over the so called $100 limit. items such as barrels they could not send but stocks and small parts were no problem. I don't know if they have a blanket export permit or how it works in the states but I will be doing some further research.

I also cross over to the states often and stop at the local gun stores, never had a problem and always come home with ammo or parts. I have never heard of anyone having problems. On a recent trip to a Buffalo gun store I got talking with two fellas who were actually Canadian customs Officers, funny as they were stocking up on ammo and each bought a crate...

I don't have a customs badge so am going to do some research to make sure my Delorean does not get seized!

Trident

did you get yours?

I go to the U.S. and buy cartridge ammo, bags of black powder and black powder locks, barrels and various gun parts every month or so with never a problem, either at the store or at customs when I declare them.
Damned evil .22 cartridge guns.......they should make them exempt from all this regulation crap, like most BP guns.

Yes, Trident.....update please....AND, how did you get your kit??

Its illegal to export ammo and some gun parts from the US without a permit. CBSA could care less, they don't enforce US laws.

When you get stopped at a random Homeland Security checkpoint departing the US you will be screwed if you are caught with ammo. Its happened to thousands of people, and you might be next.
