You forgot Clobbs aftermarket scope mount and a Red dot of your choice :p

they've been in port since Jan.26th. That means they can only hold on to them until Feb.26. After that they need to either release them, or god forbid..... give Canam a reason why they were sent back.(I hate to say that, sorry.)

I do not want to dispute your statement, but I have heard of customs "holding" shipments for "months" before finally releasing them.

I would love for it to be fact that they must "poop or get off the pot" within 30 days... but I have some reservations about that being the applied procedure.

I pray you are correct and that something will move by next Thursday. Some folks are getting "antsy" while waiting. Personally, I don't have time to shoot anytime soon. Maybe my T-97 will be one of those "never fired" NIB on EE in a couple of years! LOL

I have serveral bud's who are getting T-97's, I'll shoot theirs and keep mine in the cosmoline.

No They have to either release the goods or send them back at the end of the 30 day hold if they Seize the goods they can only be held till after a trial and a judge has ruled on the case then they can be returned to the consignee or destroyed as the court has directed

so can canam file a foip request to find out why cbsa held them ?

I have a sneaky suspicion that the RCMP and CBSA are holding all firearms imports an scrutinizing them very closely due to the recent outbreak of gang warfare...they need to be able to say they are doing something, and as usual is the lawabiding folks that get the shaft...for those of you who are skeptical, please not the difficulties these major importers have had so far:

CanAm with the Type 97s
ArmsEast with the M4s
MarStar with the VZs

Was talking to Chris at CanAm last week and he told me that the T-97's were "approved" by the RCMP BEFORE he placed the order to Norinco. So I really don't understand customs dicking around with the shipment.

CanAm has their butt in hawk for several thousands of dollars on this one shipment. I am sure they are just as anxious to get the goods released. Meanwhile, the bank collects interest! And Customs charges for storage! Wonderful capitalist system eh?

So maybe he should do a FOIP request for all internal communications regarding his shipment. ( I know I can do this with provicial governements so it should be possible to do one federally i would assume)

If you dont call BS on these guys and let it slide, they forget that they work for us NOT the other way around!

Good point rifles are already approved, I see no reason for the 30 day hold and I know it is going on with lots of importers. I have had items from the US (Gun Stock) held for the 30 days no reason given, then arrive shortly after.

I want my rifle, personally I dont mind already having paid for it, its the CBSA that is the problem.

Sorry but CBSA does not charge for storage on the 30 day Inspection hold if so several of my friends would have been jumping up and down if they had. It may impose storage charges on items that have been released and have not been picked up.

Because Customs think they are God and will do whatever they want. I seriously think some of their senior managers need to fined, fired or sent to jail for abuse of their powers.

The problem directly relates to the fact that CBSA is not held accountable to anyone except the Federal Minister in Charge.CBSA agents are free to abuse there powers and have had people charged with crimes only to lose them in court and still punish that individual every time he crosses back into Canada by detaining him and conducting extensive searches of his property.

For the red-dot, i'm thinking about this new NcStar red-dot/laser hybrid, available at Marstar for 99$... looks cool and seems to sit low on a rail.

Holy Crap Sniper1, I was thinking the same thing :)

Plus it has a laser

*Dr Evil Voice* All I want is a Norinco Type 97 with a FRICKING LASER!

Who's the Federal Minister I have to write to to complain then?

You should have seen the $hit storm the time I returned to Canada with a box of (25) 20ga 7 1/2 skeet loads. The young guard acted as if he just nailed Al Capone. I was detained for 2 1/2 hours, threatened with incarceration, frisked and had my car gone over with mirrors and sniffer dogs. No firearms in the car. I also had my shooting club ID and various hunting decoys in the trunk.

I now jerk their chains whenever I get the chance.
