Got my replacement NEA rail in this morning...
Initial impressions;
- Much better finish. More of a matte "parkerized" type finish.
- Cross bolt it much nicer, It's knurled and black.. not smooth and brass.
- The set screw at the front snugs things up real nice.
- ...this thing fits TIGHT.
- and most importantly... my T1 with LaRue fits snug. It also fits with the T1 v1. mount.
The same pre-firing testing was done as with the previous version... ;
I attached my Leupold scout scope to the rail & zeroed with a collimator. I then removed & reattached the mount 6 times, checking zero each time. Each time, it returned to zero. I then took it out back and put 100 rounds under it, removing and replacing the mount after 10rnds, 30rnds, 60rnds ; rapid fire. The scope returned to zero each time.
I didn't have time to test my T1 under fire, but have mounted it. If it'll hold zero with the scope, it'll be good with the dot.
I'd still like to put more rounds under this mount, but I'd say that NEA has a winner with this version.
The only downside so far is that I spent my first 10 mins looking for the pin retaining "bb" when the set screw came out while I was installing it. Like any setscrew, make sure you locktight it before use. And this thing needs a maple leaf engraved into it somewhere.
...I said before that I really wanted to like this mount and didn't. I can say that I do now and my only real gripe is that I'm going to have to find a way to work it into my new quad-rail.
Good job guys.
