Maybe we are just trying to steer you in the right direction.
A perfect example of why the forum needs a split--we don't need proselytizing. And it's not just newer shooters who feel this way. I've got nearly 30 years shooting experience and have zero interest in bird hunting, but I would not dream of persuading someone that shooting slugs out of a 12.5" Grizzly is the only "right direction" for shotgunning.

This is part of the problem you come off as an elitist prick and you do not even realize it.Who are you to say that that a pistol griped gun or a short barrel is an accident waiting to happen, stop projecting your irrational fears on every body else.
You can bring your concerns up but do it more in the form of a question, not flat out say the poster is a moron or his gun is a pos.
This is excellent advice. If we should bring up our concerns in the form of questions then I have some for you:

As a moderator on this forum have you ever sent Win/64 a PM about comments he's made or did you just decide today to publicly accuse him of coming off as an “elitist prick?"

As a moderator on this forum do you approve of the terms "Fudds, bitter old judgmental pricks, elitists," when referring to CGN members? How about those who don't' like "short\cheap\black\pistol grip etc. shotguns" being told to "f**k off?" Is that okay?

As a moderator on this forum would anyone be infracted if they referred to members as coming off like "immature, arrogant, tactical ####s?" I would never say anything of the sort personally just asking what would happen to someone who did.

As a moderator on this forum do you believe your comments help calm this thread or only make the divide and infighting worse?

I'm just asking. Thank-you in advance for your replies.

if you dont want to be referred to as a fudd by half the forum - stop acting like one.
there is a huge difference between someone posting a thread titled:
"Should I buy an Outlaw?" or even "Where do I buy an Outlaw?"
and you going in and advising him not to for ###x reasons,

and people posting threads like:
"Dominion Arms Outlaw Owners Thread - How Do You Like Your Outlaw?"
and having the three fuddketeers show up and gleefully troll it for pages, ridiculing the people that purchased them and are happy with them despite their flaws.

i dont own an Outlaw (and am holding off on buying one until the barrel regulation is improved) - but there are many people that bought them and simply dont care about the flaws like barrel regulation/accuracy because they are having fun, and have had the chance to own a style of gun that theyve always wanted to own. reading through those threads and the posts from you three pissing all over their fun was an absolute disgrace. by now people are well aware of what you think about PG/tactical/short/chinese/etc shotguns and are sick and tired of listening to it over, and over, and over. we get it - you dont like these guns: so stop appearing in every single thread about them.

incidentally, i find it pretty ironic that you and your bud are crying about being referred to as 'fudds' when he has a long forum history of childish personal attacks and cheap shots. V:I:

As for spliting the forum I am not on any side,I will leave that up to GT and the members. The thing I wanted changed the most is the Oh So Macho under the forum header,it is better now.

Well it's interesting to hear that safety is not an issue with some of our moderators. I will take your other comments under advisement in future posts.
Even "elitist pricks" can have an open mind.

Stop projecting your safety concerns onto other people. The people who own these guns are more than capable of making their own safety related decisions.

Tell you what, the first time someone blows off a finger with a 8.5" barreled gun, you can post "I told ya so" all you want. :)

It's interesting to hear that safety issues are not an issue with you either according to some people.

As I said before, what is safe and what is unsafe can vary drastically between people. We as gunowners have come to a consensus on what "safe" is for the most part. Some antis think that the only safe gun is a shredded one. Are they right, NO, as their perception is based on emotion rather than common sense and facts. Kinda like yours, it's just based on your opinions.

I'm sure he is just as concerned with safety as the rest of us. He's just not trying to force everyone into a bubble to keep them safe. You are narrow minded sir, can't argue that one even if you tried. When the "my perception of things is the right one and the only one" attitude comes out it's pretty hard to deny.

Sentence one in your post says he isn't concerned with safety ... YOUR perception of safety BTW.
Sentence 2 says "I'm open minded"

See a problem here.

Anti says "a safe gun is a shredded gun"
Anti says "I'm open minded and multicultural"

See a resemblance.

Split he bloody forum! There is a reason why long range/precision and main battle rifles or "red" rifles are separated. Hunting and sporting shotguns vs. tactical...apples and oranges.

What about guys who use black/tactical shotguns for hunting and sporting. Where are they left?

How hard is that to figure out? If you want to discuss hunting with your shotgun then post in the sporting/hunting forum. If you want to discuss the gun itself (assuming it is a tactical type shotgun) then post in the tactical shotgun forum... ;) Don't worry, change is good... it will all be ok... :p:D:D

If it works as well as Hunting versus Precision, Black/Green versus Red or Main battle versus Milsurp, I'm all for it. Each section has a flavour and I don't always check each one at each visit as I have my favorites. Nice to not have to wade through threads I don't read, particularly when they start reaching back a page or two.

I think they should just make a "tactical" forum...so everyone else can make fun of the guys who choose shotguns as a tactical weapons solution.

As a guy without major interest in shotguns, I would rather see this forum stay in one piece. Otherwise, where do I go? I shoot a plain-jane 870, matte black, extended mag, plastic furniture. Is it tactical? Is it hunting/sporting?

Just slap the whiners around when they misbehave and call it done.
