News update...
My friend has imported two rifles but we're waiting just like you guys.
Here's his exact words as of yesterday...
"I called the Gun Registry again today for an update and have the following news. They have imported a gun for technical testing. Their Armourer whom I talked to has told me that it has been tested to see if it can be converted to automatic, it cannot, and can it be converted to centre fire, it cannot. He also has told me that they have decided because of it’s looks that it will be a restricted weapon. No problem for us. He also offered the comments that it is a very nice quality gun at a very reasonable price and should be lots of fun and a good seller. He wants one also. The registry has started an internal website so that when you call in to register weapons they will be able to bring it up, but it is not yet completed and active, but should be sooner rather than later as they now have the data and decisions they need. The Armourer actually offered to call me back when the site is active, soon we can register asap."
I went over a few weeks ago and had a look. I'm in love. Can't wait to bring her home
How long do you think they will drag out this decision....lol......
Indecision is the best form of gun control is it not? If they can delay the classification indefinitely, they can effectively ban anything they want by basic inaction. Clever solution to a nagging Anti problem these days with support building in gun owners favor.
How long has it been? The person who submitted the sample could write them a nice letter telling the RCMP that unless a decision is made within 15 days of reciept of the letter, they will pursue a writ of mandamus to compel them to make a decision.
Why does it have to be the individual who submitted the sample? Seeing how the classification affects the general public as a whole, you would think anyone could make the same demand.
That would force them to answer some hard questions and put it in writing.
It wouldn't. An FOI request merely requires them to hand over existing documents. If none exist, they don't have to create them for you.
Ok, fine. I'm sure there's a paper trail (actual paper or electronic) to be followed here. There always is. Afterall, it's the governement we're taking about.
Check the wolverine thread, restricted.....yeaaaaaaaaaaaaa! Anyone care to wagger as to what the sig 522 will be?
It is restricted.
