Smith and Wesson M&P 15/22

Your know what, no, this s**t has got to stop! Where da f**k do they get off making up their own rules! I say we put a stop to this s**t.

I say everyone who's serious about this rifle call in and compain before they make this official! Someone post a number with an extention, let's call in the more the merrier and let them explain it to each of us why they do what they do!

This just pisses me off, it should piss the rest of you off too! I for one am done taking this s**t!

Haha you think thats bad I swear I saw a photo of a MP5 (I think) in .22 cal that was PROHITIBED! Immagine that, a prohibited 22 cal....only good for shooting cans and rabbits. No person criminal or otherwise will seriously consider using a .22 cal for any nasty deeds........prohibited!!! GAH!

News update...

My friend has imported two rifles but we're waiting just like you guys.

Here's his exact words as of yesterday...

"I called the Gun Registry again today for an update and have the following news. They have imported a gun for technical testing. Their Armourer whom I talked to has told me that it has been tested to see if it can be converted to automatic, it cannot, and can it be converted to centre fire, it cannot. He also has told me that they have decided because of it’s looks that it will be a restricted weapon. No problem for us. He also offered the comments that it is a very nice quality gun at a very reasonable price and should be lots of fun and a good seller. He wants one also. The registry has started an internal website so that when you call in to register weapons they will be able to bring it up, but it is not yet completed and active, but should be sooner rather than later as they now have the data and decisions they need. The Armourer actually offered to call me back when the site is active, soon we can register asap."

I went over a few weeks ago and had a look. I'm in love. Can't wait to bring her home

How would you like to post some pics with a current Canadian news paper in the background.

How long do you think they will drag out this decision....lol......

Indecision is the best form of gun control is it not? If they can delay the classification indefinitely, they can effectively ban anything they want by basic inaction. Clever solution to a nagging Anti problem these days with support building in gun owners favor.

Indeed.

I would have thought the worst that they can do is say it's restricted, and I hardly even care other than objecting on principle.

But this deliberate refusal to make a ####ing choice is in effect prohibition by indecision.

How long has it been? The person who submitted the sample could write them a nice letter telling the RCMP that unless a decision is made within 15 days of reciept of the letter, they will pursue a writ of mandamus to compel them to make a decision.

Why does it have to be the individual who submitted the sample? Seeing how the classification affects the general public as a whole, you would think anyone could make the same demand.

I contacted a CGN dealer yesterday and they told me that they didn't think it was going to get a FRT number....wtf does that mean? (I don't belive this)

I really want one of these...bad, so much so I convinced my wife we need one so we can get into Tac rifle together...;)

Nope. They'd have to submit their own sample.

The law of standing is confusing, but the outcome in a case like this is: You can't bring an action, you don't have standing.

I think the general public is, at the very least, entitled to a written explanation as to the "official" reasoning behind the delays here. Sounds like a Freedom to Information Request would be appropriate here. That would force them to answer some hard questions and put it in writing.

I'd donate $10 to the cause... ;) Afterall, it only costs $5 to do so, correct? Is that per individual question, or per person making the request (regardless of the number of questions asked?)?

That would force them to answer some hard questions and put it in writing.

It wouldn't. An FOI request merely requires them to hand over existing documents. If none exist, they don't have to create them for you.

Ok, fine. I'm sure there's a paper trail (actual paper or electronic) to be followed here. There always is. Afterall, it's the governement we're taking about.

Well, I've seen FOI's on firearms lab stuff... They don't leave a trail. Its intentional.

Check the wolverine thread, restricted.....yeaaaaaaaaaaaaa! Anyone care to wagger as to what the sig 522 will be?

Are you actually celebrating that it is restricted? I sure hope not since it should be non-restricted.

As for the 522, restricted isn't an option (unless the overall length is too short). It is either prohibited or non-restricted.

Ohh I'm not celebrating, I'm fumming mad, its hard to do a Kramer (yaaaaaaaaaa!) On the internet.

And if you think the 522 has only 2 options u sir have no idea what the rcmps rule book entails, ill give you. A hint, its like the kuran or the bible or the torah, its up to individual interpretation, were all up the #### creek without a paddle...

So we've all heard that it should be non res but has been classified as Restricted...then they said...whoa a minute...maybe we'll revisit the decision....has anyone actually bought one yet and have it in hand with an FRT???
