Shorten PAL Approval Times

In BC. non restricted PAL

March 4: received (certified)
March 21: appeared online saying more information required
March 22: called to ask about the information, and cleared up one question. status immediately changed to processed and in progress
April 4: status says processed and issued.

no interview or references called.

exactly 31 days, including easter stat holiday, from received to issued. now just to wait for it to come in the mail

This makes me feel a bit better after hearing all the reports of the BC CFO holding things up!

i have no suspect past, just a regular every day average normal guy. 29 years old. i did take the CFSC course and got 100% and 100% on my written and practical test from a well known instructor. not sure if that helped. my buddy who took the same course, and mailed his stuff the same time, hasn't had his change to issued yet, but maybe tomorrow.

from watching this thread there seems to be a trend towards faster approval times from a couple of months ago.

I mailed in my application on Dec 20th 2012.
I called in several times, the office just told me it was processing. Finally, they told me there is a guy with same same name, same date of birth on wanted list. .......
I faxed firearm office Police Information check last Friday, then saw it's approved on Monday this week.
it took me almost 4month. If I didn't call in and fax them the information check, i think it could take longer.....

Question, usually how long it gonna take to receive the license after it's approved?

My timeline for rPAL:
(There was a slight delay because of payment)

December 10th - Non-Restricted Safety Course
Jan 26th - Restricted Safety Course
Jan 29th - Sent rPAL
Jan 30th - Received... (registered mail)
Feb 21st - Online
March 1st - All Interviews Done
After having my own interview, my references called in /w application no#
March 28th - Called in to CFO, rPAL finalized
April 5th - Received rPAL in the mail

...... Off to buy some ammo, and hopefully get some range time this weekend.

Congrats. The stars must have lined up right for you. I'm on day 72 waiting for my RPAL. My interviews are long done and paperwork has been with the BC CFO since Feb 28th.

Mailed my RPAL stuff on April 2. Canada Post confirms delivery to Miramichi as of this morning, April 5.

Let's see how well mine does...

My timeline

Wow, I should have moved to Alberta! :) I'm at five weeks now and still don't even have my course results back from the CFO.

There seems to zero continuity in their operation, more like pot luck! Great to know tax dollars are so effective.

I don't want to jinx anything but my update - I'm a little pumped up.
Took my CFSC /CRFSC on March 9/10
Mailed the application via registered mail March 12.
Received March 14th
Been checking the RCMP website daily - and today April 8th "Application is being processed"

Now if only the CFO would be my results back so I can get those down. After I get those down, I will get my reference to call.
Join a club yesterday - so anxious to get some trigger time.

Just checked for my girlfriend this morning.

Application received february 15, appeared online march 12, issued today april 8th.

I sent mine at the same time and it's still showing a processing :(

It's weird right now on my application. I had both of my references call in last week with the ref# and they did their interviews, as well as myself. I called today and they told me that they still have to interview one of my references. I let him know and he said he already gave his interview. The person at the CFC gave me an extension number for him to call, so I provided that to my reference. He called and ended up being forwarded to someone else for the interview. Hopefully it is good this time. I checked my application status online and there hasn't been any change yet. I'll ring em up tomorrow.

My app was received March 4th and so far, they pretty much have all the info they need before forwarding to the CFO for background checks. Bit of a pain. Such is life.

question: I just recieved my CFSC stamped test results. My application was recieved Apr 02/13, but hasn't appeared online yet. How do I fax/e-mail the stamped test results to them?

Personally, I would wait until it came online so you could fax them in and reference your application number to minimize risk of a screw up.
Depends on eager you are I guess.

So I finally gave up waiting and sent my application in without the stamped course results. I get home and look in the mailbox....well you can guess. :)
