Let's "clarify" some more....

Performance? So far 200yd testing of this rifle shows it will shoot in the 0's. I think that is good enough to be competitive.

Jerry

PS no room for dice but maybe a few blue ribbons. Let's see if I can learn to dope the wind.

This was just too good not to quote Jerry!

Savage has done very well with there action design perhaps to the extent of being over rated by some...who might that be I wonder...but perhaps we can ask why no other manufacturer or custom gun maker has chosen to duplicate or copy refine the design. Could it be a patent? Hmmmm....

The floating head design still requires the receiver lugs to be square to the barrel. If it is not and assuming the floating head bolt face is parallel to the rear lug surfaces of the floating head, you have misalignment and run the potential for case heads not remaining square after firing the shell. Well at least it is consistent from firing to firing but do you really want that?

The floating head design also requires that the bolt face be parallel to the floating head recoil lug contact surfaces.

Sure the floating head makes up for angular / eccentric bolt raceways or receiver bores but there is still clearance between the bolt head stub and the receiver. This will induce axial misalignment. Nothing most shooters worry about but top action designers do worry about these off center primer strikes.

The Savage is an interesting design strangely copied by how many manufacturers? Could every manufacturer be missing the sure fired low cost equal to custom gun performance answer..........I don't think so....

Glad to see you are having fun experimenting and that this post has offered good discussion and entertainment....

Joe I am still hopeing some day you will try and make a valid point without being a total ####! Jerry what you have accomplished on and with your rifles and the sport is commendable don't accept any less and feel obligated to justify or quantify your accomplishments...those that know, know...those that doubt always will no matter what you say.;) :D Keep up the good posts they have been educational and appreciated.

Just an opinion

Well if you took your head out of your hole you might see the relevance!

It's not the Information Joe, but the presentation. It appeared condesending in nature, considdering the work and time Jerry has put into this and shareing with us that information. It has been great and I can only hope to be able to do what he has done. Many on here have shot with Jerry and been helped by him and know he's got it together. In my opinion its one thing to share information, another to.......nuff said.

In the event I'm reading you wrong or the way you posted I will appologize for my comment....heat of the moment thing, Im bad for that sometimes.

As far as my head in my hole....I've been told Im flexible and will do my best to remedy that problem.

Not to worry - no apologies required, I've had my there a few times too..... well my hole that is... figuratively speaking of course....

I think its fantastic that someone has time to experiment and test ideas. Frankly its posts like Jerry's that really bring on the discussion and ideas. Hopefully we can keep a straight line to accurate and informative information.

Presentation has never been a strong point but believe it or not I am working on it.

I think everyone on this board wants and does help fellow shooters. I don’t think we should focus on presentation so much as the content. The content is what counts….of course how we present is somewhat important but everyone has his or her style. Mine happens to be a wee bit too blunt to say the least.

### I know little about you, and have seen none of your work, but the way you present yourself in such a condescending manner, all the while seeming to take great pride in running down at every opportunity another mans project and obvious pride in what he has created, makes me wonder if you are trapped in a play school time warp, with your being the playground bully.
I can see providing " CONSTRUCTIVE" differing views, but this is NOT what I read in your posts.
I was under the impression that this forum was geared towards the beneficial exchange of information and ideas. If posts of this nature is what you consider professional, you may want to re read Websters.
The way you come off your name should be Jarrett, Tubb, Allen or Barrkman, or someone who is well know in the industry, I can find nothing on the internet about ### that leads me to believe you have any credibility in high end precision rifles.
Maybe you could dazzle us with your verifiable accomplishments.

Meh, a fanboy's still a fanboy. Some true colours showing here. Insecure enough to take someone else's decision to go with a different brand of equipment personally. I'm sure Jerry's a big enough guy to take it, if you need to insult his choice of guns to feel good about yourself. Newsflash - you are not your guns.

Are we missing something here.

The discussion was barrel blocks, then receivers. I don't believe you need to a TUBB or otherwise to have a good understanding of this equipment. Obviously money and time helps.

It helps if you have a good technical background. If you find fault with information I have presented or commented on feel free to comment. If all you have to offer is comments on perceived "personal" attacks ....grow up. Put your own brain to work and lets have a technical conversation. Toss in some colour but please keep your stupid comments to yourself. I am sick of people spewing bull#### and inaccuracies as the truth and the dumb monkeys with a big mouth who believe it!

If there is a hint of being personal its due to some old trash that Jerry has chosen to not to answer or comment on and that relates to technical / design and/or engineering experience. Now lets see your technical expertise instead of this bellyaching.

Knockknock and prosper....just took a peak at your posts. I see how it can be so easy for both of you to pick out the "BS" no value content and not comment on the technical aspects. Feel free to jump with some strong technical input ....anytime the more the info the better.

I'm always willing to correct my understanding of firearms. Feel free to jump in any time....that is if you can add anything other then showing us how non technical you really are!

### I think you are missing the point of several of us and our posts. Personally I have little "technical" knowledge so prefer to use the expertise of true professionals, I can not say whether your theories or those of Mystics are correct. I think the manner in which you come across is what has raised the ire of some.
Possibly if you have unfinished issues with Mystic a PM may be more professional.
Correct me if I am wrong, but you are a business, judging by the "dealer" under your name, if "snide and surly" is the manner in which you conduct your business, your business must be wanton.
It is not desire to call you out, strictly an onbservation, that the attitude oozing from your posts are not becomeing.

Mr Mystic, I enjoyed your posts and find the concept interesting, please keep up with the work and the sharing of your ideas and progress.
Some folks long ago thought JM Browning was nuts as well, I guess he showed them.

I have had a hoot reading the rebutals. Thanks guys...

I have to believe that Joe means well. But man does he ever come across as a total.....However, I bet he really catches alot of fish in the real world.

Hey Joe, since you want everyones credentials, you show us yours first. Jam labels and pinky rings. I am glad the world has progressed so well over the milennia without the need for phids.

Anyways, I have no intention nor need to visit the land of the free in order to validate one man's sense of reality.

I have posted my info w/pics. No I don't use photoshop. If I knew that much about computers, my site would be have been updated a year ago.

yep, them holes are pretty small. Could post more pics with more small holes but I just don't see the point of wasting bandwidth. Besides, I don't live in Tacoma so what are the odds they are real??????

When an event challenges ones sense of reality, you can either call it a load of hooey or give it a try. Those who give new things a try might just have a paradigm shift. Yeah, they taught me big words to go with the jam label.

In case the audience isn't paying attention, the competition this rifle and cartridge was developed for is F class Open to be exact (should also do a fine job in 1000m BR). Keep it quiet but we don't even shoot off benches or load at the match and use bullets with boatails...sssshhhh.

The distances are enormous (Yes, Martha, there is a world beyond 200yds)but the scoring rings huge. However conditions get in the way and well, we can't shoot in the two's either. But then we only need to hit that big circle in the middle and its 1/2 MOA.

If there isn't a family disaster, I hope to be in Kamloops for the Frozen Farky end of Sept. Hopefully, my presence and controversy will create an enormous turnout with a huge Tacoma contingent. If you gotto see to believe, come on out.

You can all see how good or badly I can dope conditions.

Been fun guys. Pushing the limits of the accepted norms is what improves this sport. Some times it works, other times you get run out of Tacoma. Wonder why Tacoma and not Calgary or Ottawa or Williamsport or ....

Every once in a while you get a 'wow, that is really cool'.

5 shots to connecting at one mile. I know a few guys that would say that was a really cool moment. Good thing they had enough 'elevation' to get beyond 200yds.

Jerry

That's a super lookin' piece Jerry, I have seen many of your creations and I really like this one. The 500 yard shots were pretty damn good if you ask me.
PS, that's the biggest frikkin' gopher whacker I ever saw.....:D

Just as I thought! Total hogwash! Another dreamer (nothing wrong with that I guess)...........no proof which is abundantly clear. Enough wasted time.

I am a registered professional engineer in Alberta, have been in two other provinces for what it is worth. I can just imagine what credentials you have up your sleeve Jerry/Mystic....not to mention knockknock and prosper. But lets hear it or was that prior post just a big fat unfounded juicy lie?

Lets just say I am sick and tired of bozos that spout off at the mouth without knowledge or foundation and then don’t have the smarts to even “attempt” a technical construction discussion.

Personally, I'll call a spade a spade and whether people like or dislike my posts is completely up to them. My customers appreciate my business as I do theirs. My business is exactly that; my business, my fellow poster. The ground couldn't open up fast enough to swallow the stupidity displayed by knockknock (nice name by the way...is anyone really there) and his buddy prosper.

Silly me of course where else but the internet can you try to be righteous......try to give the impression you actually know something and argue presentation.....and display the need to protect the innocent from the big bad playground bully (honestly)...but on the internet……GROW UP GENTLMEN. Lets get back to the toys we enjoy operating and working on….or is that too difficult to?

We all step in sh.t at some time, lets just move on.....and put this behind us.

For those of you who think Jerry is whacked for building a long range rifle on a savage action >.... If someone could tell me how to post pictures on here i will show you my Version of a long range rifle on an enfield action ( now thats whacked) that i am building.... That should take some of the pressure off you Jerry ... :) Actually i am looking forward to trying this thing out..
So if someone could be so kind as to PM me with instruction for posting pics i will post ...

I don't think anyone thinks Jerry is whacked for his work. I honestly do think it is great to see the commitment and what people are doing. Send me your pictures and I'll post them for you....if like of course.
Regards,

joe

PS - I have an enfield p14 that I started back in 93...still have it but never did finish a stock for it. Too many other projects on the go and too little time.

I enjoy reading about projects and results. It does no good to attack anyone if they don't agree with your ideas and then make a comment about all the credentials that you have and so this automatically says there is no way you can be wrong. I have learned over my lifetime that you can tell a person's attributes by their actions and the fruits of their labour, not by who they say they are. Most of the time people who tell you how good they are, aren't all they think they are cracked up to be. I too have credentials but see no need to spout them to try and make myself look above another. We are all here to have fun and share knowledge and successes in this awesome sport. We are actually all equal.
Thanks
