A brand new type of rimfire event .... introducing ACTION 22!

Gothmog, how many 25 shot mags will the average shooter need to complete a single stage? Will there be mandatory mag changes? Will slings be neccesary or just helpful? I just ordered a new stock and fore grip and was wondering what else I need to get.

A sling will be helpful at this stage, although they are likely to become mandatory in time if our experience with TacRifle is any indication.

We are still working on stage design.

There would be little question if all shooters had Ruger 10/22's ... we would have huge stages with 30 or 40 targets and multiple mag changes. However, in the interest of shooting the match in a timely fashion, combined with the likely participation of a variety of 22 rifles with slower feeding systems I think it probable that stages will be abot 10 targets each unless I can think of some other way to avoid having the afternoon turn into a bunch of us watching shooters reload their tube fed rifles .... ;) :D

I can't wait for this. Babyseal is whipping me up a new t6 stocked 10/22 just for this event. If my wife asks its Gothmogs fault.;)
Hope he can get her ready in time.
Dave

Haha. I am excited too!

I keep checking my calendar worrying that the first shoot will sneak up on me!

Lots of time still...

Ok is it time yet?

oh....

Now?

...

Is that a schwack of 10 rd mags in that tube or is that some sort of massive feed mechanism a-al Calico?

That looks very cool. If I saw you at the range with that I would definately have to come over and check it out.

Nice work.

I will be at the match so you will be able to see what I did. It is a magazine that only holds three 10rnd Ruger mags. Three plus 1 will give me 40 rnds without any worries. I hope that will be enough!!!

First match remains Sunday, June 24 ... the TMSA website requires updating and doesn't list this season's rifle matches. I hope this will be remedied shortly, but bear in mind that I will announce any changes or updates here on CGN. :)

At this point, a 25 round mag will likely be more than enough for a stage.

If you have fewer rounds in your mags, shooting more deliberately and making each shot count will probably be a good strategy. If you wanna 'spray and pray', just for the sheer joy of it, by all means bring lots of the largest capacity magazines you can! :D

this sounds great, but my scope just crapped out on me and with the purchase of my 226 i can't afford a new one right away....le sigh

Just to note that I think this is a brilliant idea - it will bring in many shooters who shy away from the high seriousness/expensive gear/expensive ammo "action shooting" events. Who can't afford a 10/22, a banana mag and a brick of .22?

Iron sights will be just fine ... no targets beyond 100 yards!:)

Exactly!

Will you make the jaunt over from the island?

I have been having reliability issues with the 25rnd bannana mags. Therefore I had to come up with something that would use the factory mags. What do you think?

Ok, now that's the coolest thing I have seen in a while. :)

Also Gothmog keep info on this event updated, as I might try for it as well, but I need to know what I will need, and where I have to be etc, as I'll be coming from the island as well, and it is a huge commitment for me logistics, and money wise.

But this sounds too fun to miss. :)

Carpool!!!
If the posts are any indication, parking is going to be a #####.
I will be there, maybe a couple of friends also.

I am going to this shoot if I have to weld a plow on my truck to push through a hoard of zombies.

I need a navigator though because I have NO CLUE where this place is.

Any other Chilliwack gunnutz headed that way wanna share the trip?

OR

Can someone post the address of the range so I can "google maps" it?

Woohoo!!! Just 4 more sleeps!!!

Let me know if that helps.

I was painting steel targets tonight, I have about 50 done which will likely be more than enough for the match.

My current plan is to run a series of 10 target stages each with a set time limit. Your score will be the number of targets you knock down in this limited time frame. If there are too many perfect scores, a 'winner' can be found by using a playoff round with less time than previously used.

This is not set in stone and we may do things differently next time, depending on how well this works.
