Hilarious idea. Canadian gun owners have been sitting on their wallets and slinging poo at each other for a generation. I think that's unlikely to change if the chips were really down.
I disagree, especially since we had a positive change regarding the Swiss Arms/CZ debacle earlier this year. If our legally acquired/owned firearms were going to be confiscated with or w/o compensation many, as in many thousands of responsible law abiding firearm owners (myself included) would go to extreme lengths to be able to legally keep and use our firearms responsibly.
I wouldn't think twice to donating what I could afford, which brings us to the question why are so many RESPONSIBLE FIREARMS OWNERS (myself included) waiting for a very difficult scenario to occur (our Gov't banning/confiscating any or all legally obtained firearms) before working harder together to produce better results; especially when we've seen firsthand what happened to a somewhat similar country as Australia.
We really need to produce ONE all encompassing responsible firearms user group/membership/voice... to support any and all responsible firearms users regardless if we have different ideas or interests with respect to the use of our firearms.
I realize easier said then done, however this is what the anti-gun folk are counting on; a divided and/or ill informed group of firearms owners to do battle with.
United we stand, divided we fall comes to mind.
A joining of all responsible firearm users groups is what is needed, converting all firearm user groups... into one all encompassing NATIONAL entity.
While I'm not really up to speed on how to approach this topic, never mind accommodate it. I'm sure there are some much more knowledgeable and experienced then I here that may be able to shed some light on the subject, because if anything needs to be spoken of it's how to accomplish just this.
Can you imagine the financial might and political clout a completely united coast to coast Canadian group of responsible firearms owner would have.
The funds that could be raised for legal expenses (used to maintain our passions of responsible firearms use) and the ability to generate correct and factual information from and for each and every firearms member/club regardless of the discipline would be quite enormous.
Cheers D
