ATRS modern hunter?

Maybe, maybe not. Never bought a single item from ATRS. You own or owned one of these guns right?

Are you for real? Someone hands you a piece of dog crap with icing on it and tells you it's a cupcake, after you've already seen the ingredients list. You'd still take a bite? It's all yours. Bon appetit!

:bsFlag:

A number of credible sources have already posted their results with their MH rifles. I'm not talking about the guys who have only been on here a few years, have no trader ratings and minimal post counts other than ATRS threads. Then of course we have the posts with the mine shoots great followed by being listed up on the EE shortly afterwards.... Hmmmmm.

Maybe, maybe not. Never bought a single item from ATRS. You own or owned one of these guns right?

Without reading all the crap in this thread, I would like to know as well. Epoxy, do you own one of these? Have you ever tried one of these?

Just asking.

Not a chance. As soon as I discovered it was a glorified DPMS LR308, I didn't walk, I ran. I own a DPMS LR308 24" SS , 3 Armalite AR10 rifles, 1 LMT MWS, 1 KAC SR25 and a DPMS GII Recon. There is no hope in hell I would spend LMT/KAC money on a DPMS LR308 based rifle just because it has a side charging handle and is non restricted. Not going to happen.

It's called pre purchase research. I don't put down that kind of money without knowing what I'm buying. Frankly until that new forum posted it, most of you guys had no clue what these rifles actually were. It seems some of you still don't. :HR: On this forum people are only now just starting to accept that maybe it's not all rainbows and sunbeams. Over a year ago the problems were posted on that new forum. Yes by owners.

I see. Just as I thought. I think your credibility is pretty much zero in this regard. Your endless posts demeaning this rifle and ATRS are getting really tiresome. Now we all know, you're nothing but a troll. As are many others commenting here and other threads about ATRS rifles and customer service.

Hhahaha. That's funny. I don't buy low end with a bunch of bling on it and pay high end prices. Be my guest. It's all yours. I look forward to seeing your sound "investment". Enjoy.

Like I said, you still haven't figured out what it is. Maybe try reading the threads for a change rather than just "commenting".

Actually since I own and shoot a gen1 DPMS LR308 I guess I do own one of these rifles. The MH is after all a fancy DPMS LR308. The weaknesses of this system I've already posted based on experience.

Caveat Emptor!

Damn!! I thought maybe you had sour grapes after your MH sucked. Turns out you are just a loudmouth knowit all. If you actually feel so strongly that ATRS is misleading the public, put your money where your mouth is and buy a used one. Show us all how bad it sucks with pics, ranger report, targets etc.

Epoxy, you should give this up now. You do look pretty ridiculous with every post you make.

Didn't you buy one and then sell it ??

Why would you buy a used one when these seem to be the earlier problematic ones. If it weren't for the NEA102 possibility then I'd say buy a new Modern Hunter and see how it runs and hope the issues have been ironed out.

Exactly my thoughts. When I mentioned him to Rick, he just burst out a hardy chukkle and shook his head. Rick has knows of his posts here and else where on the net, and also knows he wrote to caliber mag asking ATRS' ads be removed, due to false advertising as he claimed "it was clearly an AR and the lab got it all wrong".

Im sorry, but I have no respect for anyone willing to go to such lengths to discredit a business for no reason other than what one can only assume is for their personal gain.

Go run back to your precious home at CFC Epoxy. Your attacks on ATRS are what turns me off from contributing to that forum. Its a complete free for all over there, and from what I have seen it has 10x more bashing than helpful info there. Pitiful really. I really look forward to the day you are banned from CGN so you cant poison it further.

Ok, I shouldn't do this. But Epoxy, I am pretty familiar with the MH. And for that matter, the MV. Yes, I sold my MH. For the sole reason of financing another build. I was not unpleased with mine. In fact, mine was very accurate out to 800m. Not a lot of people have taken these out that far. It was accurate with factory match grade ammo and the Hirtenberger surplus. With the only difference being the scope dope. I felt that it didn't need tailored hand loads to acheive peak performance. Now, another CGN member owns it and is as pleased as I was.

I will admit to one problem mine had, and you be the judge if it was a rifle killer issue or an ATRS problem. While trying out the rifle for the first time, I encountered a squib. With Federal Gold Medal match ammo none the less. A call to Rick and an explanation of what happened was greated with, yes bring it by and we'll certainly have a look at it. So I did. Not only did Rick remove the bullet, he cleaned and lubed the rifle for me. Oh and by the way, when I first took delivery of the new rifle, Rick was kind enough to mount and bore sight my new NF scope. At no charge and while I waited! Seems like pretty decent customer service to me.

Did I post reviews? Yes. Did I get slagged by trolls like you? All the time, as did others. In fact some of these trolls were exposed just like I exposed you. Some of them were warned, others banned. I don't think I need to argue with you endlessly about your theories of why you believe this is the worst thing to happen to gas guns. And how you believe ATRS is the worst company on the face of the planet. Ok, I'm probably over exaggerating that a wee bit. But those who have seen your posts would probably agree.

The next time you want to troll a thread on a subject you have little to no knowledge about, you should think twice. You do look pretty stupid. (Sorry if that offended anyone.)

EDIT: And if you're dissing this platform solely on the price issue, then go away. Please. Money should be the last of anyone's worries. But that's just me. YMMV.

I reload for my bolt precision rifles. I do a lot of long range shooting and am very familiar with the mechanics and know how when it comes to precision reloading. I gave up on my modern hunter. Mine came from factory was not a used rifle. I tried amax, Berger, Sierra match kings. I tried varget, 4305, 8208 xbr. I tried various seating depths, Brass lengths eTC.

Take that for what it's worth. I had the stainless barrel not the proof.

Chago, Similar case with my friend's MH. We loaded with A-Max, Berger and SMK from 155-180 grains using Varget, H4895, BL-C2, N140, N150. We initially tried using annealed once fired Winchester brass, but switched to virgin Lapua (sized in small base die) after we couldn't get it to function reliably or group sub-moa. Ammo was loaded to within 0.02 grains and runout was tested to be a max of 0.0025" with a majority closer to 0.001-0.002". Other than testing for pressure signs, load development was quite difficult for every load since there was no discernible pattern to the groupings; you'd get random flyers on both vertical and horizontal axis (it was quite frequent to get a flyer 1-2" away from the rest of the group). We'd let the barrel cool and single fed rounds to ensure runout wasn't being introduced when being fed from the mag, but couldn't get the gun to group. Tested the exact same handloads through a bolt action and all rounds would group sub-MOA to just over MOA. Ran a few handloads through the chronograph (through the bolt action) and had an ES of 8 fps over 10 rounds.

Ok, I didn't know that. So, he has no direct knowledge of these rifles and ATRS. Now, we find out he has another agenda.

Interesting.

Your allegation actually isn't correct. You might want to recheck your source for that information.

I'm not too concerned about your respect for me. When someone resorts to attacking the person rather than the argument, they really doen't have respect for anyone. You simply don't like what I post. We disagree. It happens. No need to make it personal. I don't know you and frankly I don't want to. So let's keep the discussion non personal shall we. Argue the facts not the person. Even if you don't have respect for someone please at least be respectful.

Please explain your side of the allegation. And by the way, it got personal when your credibility was exposed.

I think I can understand some people frowned upon the provenance of some components. But one need to realize that this platform his one of the only one that has not one manufacturer but is copied, modified by many; inspires many designes and have component borrowed for other designs. Witch creates a big number of manufacturers that produce the same parts. Cause of this one is to ask himself why would a company tool up to fabricate a part that can be purchase? One might prefer to have part provenance from such and such manufacturer, but bottom line should be is it working, performing and lasting? If yes then to me I have no problems!

If one would be arguing, as Epoxy was, that the "dpms" bolt was an outdated inferior designe, that is one thing; but if one starts nitpicking and saying the lpk is almost all "dpms " well to that I say so what? Better yet I would ask have those parts from such manufacturer exibited abnormal failure rate? If no then its of no bairing to me.

The Fact is that part from Colt Canada , who is a government back entity, almost all Canadien built firearms rely on outsourced parts. Furthermore most US built ar are cobble together from parts from different manufacturers. Hell go in a stockroom of any car dealership and look at the packaging from all the parts and you will see that Japanese Honda has parts from all over the globe, honda doesn't make there own, light bulb, air bag, tires a/c compressor. ..ETC.

So bottom line FOR me if there is no abnormal problems or failure rate due to these parts then what the hell is the big deal? I don't think that Rick and the guy's ever advertise that these were 100% built in house. And for god sake man if you really tried to get the MH/MV restricted base on personal vendettas or personal sence of what's what, man you should take a long hard look in the mirror! If such allegations are indeed true .

I recall your reviews. I also recall you posting that you have shot three of these. The accuracy even by your own reviews wasn't anything special. It was ok. But not what I would expect considering the barrels and triggers. No I never "slagged" you. Trolls like me? WTF? I likely disagreed with some of your conclusions but I didn't slag or troll you. Guess what, I'm still not. I don't know what kind of "exposing" you're doing but it sure isn't on this thread. Please no trench coats!

One thing I did post was what a flier in an AR10t looks like in another thread to show those who don't know these rifles what they are actually capable of and what they should be expecting even when one opens the group a bit. That isn't slagging or trolling. That's a reasonable expectation. One that MH isn't living up to at this time.

I don't care about a squid that was likely an ammo defect. That's not the base of any of my concerns. Frankly one offs happen with firearms and as you just pointed out even with ammunition. It's when there's a pattern that I would have concern. With certain issues, there is a pattern. When it becomes statistically significant then it's worth looking at.

Fair enough, you have a personal relationship with ATRS. I'm guessing Onetwenty also does. Hence you two keep trying to take it down the "personal" track. I'm not the one who's making it personal. Please try and separate your loyalty/bias. I'm looking at this critically, based on the actual components, and issues that seem to be more than just a one off by those who do own these rifles. Of which there seem to be many. I noticed you guys haven't addressed the last couple of posters who have stated they had problems. Are they wrong?

A topic I have little knowledge about.... Hmmm interesting. I have been following the MH project since day 1 when ATRS started their thread on it. I even eagerly contributed suggestions. The obvious reason why is I was interested in potentially buying one. I love AR308 rifles. A non restricted AR308? What's not to like. Who was the first on this site to post and confirm what the components such as the timeny's trigger and BCG were? I've only been shooting AR308 rifles for 12 years. Back then we had the option of DPMS or Armalite. My first AR308 was the LR308. So I have 12 years experience with the same BCG as the MH. I can tell you it's strengths and weakness due to experience. As I mentioned I have a range of AR308 rifles to draw from experience wise as well. This includes components/quality. My Armalite AR10 SASS was bought as parts and put together over a year by myself and a buddy. So yes I have put one together from parts. The fact that I haven't bought one of these should really say it all. Get rid of the red herrings such as price, personal issue blah blah. Look at the facts. If they lived up to what they are being billed as, then I would already own one. They haven't at this time so I haven't bought one.

The fact that you sold your MH to fund another project also tells me something. It wasn't anything special. If it was, you would have kept it.

Ya it's a shame. Guys can get as offended as they like I really don't care. I know my abilities and know what rifles can do with reloads etc. I couldn't get mine to group no.matter what.

And like I said. When I build bolt guns I try to turn a 1 moa to .75 moa with reloading. Not turn a 5 moa to 2 moa. And I get it. Bolt guns are not semi and should not be compared. And that's fine. But when $2000 sl8 are shooting moa. I would expect my $4500 MH would be the same at minimum.

Again the rifle.looked and felt awesome. I had no failures at all. But accuracy sucked. That's my experience with my rifles. So if other have had great experiences then great. But I did not. And believe me it wasn't that ammo or shooters. I'm no Chris Kyle but I can shoot and load for sub moa groups.

They are lowest bid parts. No problem in a budget build or a budget target rifle. I don't mind either in my $1500 commercial/hobbiest grade DPMS LR308 target rifle. The price reflected this as did the expectations. Let's put for example the new Cadex rifles. If I paid $5000 for a Cadex 308, I don't expect to find a stock parkarized Remington 700 action in it as the custom action. Guess, what, you won't. What do you think people would be saying if they did? Actually to be fair it would be more like finding a Stock 10 Savage action in their custom rifles, not telling anyone about it with others discovering this fact later. You won't see such Shenanigans with Cadex. That's the real difference between high end and pretending to be high end.

That's not true. I did no such thing. Nor would I ever.
