Instead of designing a totally new system why not just build a high quality AR-15 style rifle in both 5.56/.223 and .308? I know that this will automatically be restricted but you can capture a big chunk of the AR-15 market in Canada.

An established & debugged design should be easier to sell than a new one. Once established you can come up with a non-restricted gun of your on design too.

I disagree.

There are those of us who HATE the AR15.

And who needs another restricted rifle for "games" on the range? .308 is a real round, that belongs in the woods, as well as at play.

IMHO... But I guess my sig line says it all...

Calibre 7.62 x 51mm.

As for profile it will be similar to FN-FAL but with a lot of changes and updates. Considering a wood furniture kit that would make a lot of Belgian supporters very happy.

First working prototype expected in about a year. At least 2-3 years until a dealer sees one. And yes, it will have a Maple Leaf prominently displayed on it.

What the Canadian market needs is a decent semi auto that does not look like a machine gun. How about a semi in 7.62 Nato that looks and feels like a good hunting rifle, in a variety of stock choices; capable of mounting different sighting systems and even scout configuration. If it has a barrel that will accept military firing rates all the better. Make it in 7.62 x51 and 7.62 x 39 i'm sure there would be interest here.

Sounds good to me. So It'll be out around the same time as the XCR-M. The only hard part will be the decision :p

Sounds good to me. If it does resemble an FAL then I will defiantly be interested.
