Crusader Arms Crypto

I just looked at the Crusader Arms website for complete Crypto rifles. It now say out of stock but the ETA is still 31 October. Upper/lower sets are out of stock as well. I'm guessing they are trying to catch up with their orders. I ordered a complete rifle on 8 Sept and anxiously waiting for mine.
Ordered my receiver set on the 16th of August, and it's still not here. They did end up getting back to my email about two weeks ago, and asked me to provide photos of my driver's license, PAL, and the email associated with my PAL. No clue if I somehow missed something when I initially placed my order, but here's hoping we get our toys soon.

Alright received my Crypto and here are my thoughts:

Fired 250 rounds through the rifle at a range of 100 meters. Magazines are okay definitely not amazing but also not horrible. They get the job done and feed rounds reliably. Out of the 6 I got 1 has an issue. After the last round is fired the bolt does not lock back on that one magazine. The rest of the magazines lock the bolt back after the last round is fired. I suspect this is because the follower is plastic and there are some tolerance issues when some of the magazines are made at the factory.

I had zero malfunctions with 50 of my own 55 grain reloads. I also had zero malfunctions with 200 rounds of 55 grain 5.56.

I achieved 2 inch groups at 100 meters with my hand loads and 3 inch groups with 5.56. Fantastic accuracy and this barrel is made by crusader so I was shocked.

Disassembling the bolt carrier I cannot find any issues with quality or fitment of the gas rings, extractor or ejector. The rifle does not rattle when put together and the dust cover functions properly. Of course if you don’t like something feel free to swap it out. That’s what is great about the rifle. I would disagree if someone said that the bolt assembly is absolute crap. Definitely not bottom of the barrel in the slightest.

Overall this is a good rifle. Feel free to disagree if you want but this is just my personal experience. The best 5.56 I have owned except I do miss not being able to use stanag mags : (
Hey just curious what magnification you were using at 100yds ? If any. Thanks

Same here, I ordered mine on the 12th of August. They don’t even answer my emails. At this point I’m convinced that it’s all just BS and they’ve taken my money and have no intention of ever sending me anything.

I ordered six more magazines so I’d have 12. Ordered over a month ago.

Crickets.

I’m not fussed

Anxiously waiting to see if the newer production receiver kits are still purple or have they been anodized properly in black.
LOL - I have yet to see ANY Canadian "manufacturer" offer proper, Milspec Type 3 Hardcoat Anodizing on any of the current AR180B or "Eh R" offerings. Instead, those Canadian firearms get some sort of matte, "tool-grade" finish, in purple if the anodizing solution is contaminated, that is typically thin and wears quickly. That is NOT proper firearms grade anodizing. Not even close. When Turkish defence contractors can produce a superior anodized finish to Canadian industry, we Canucks have a quality and competitiveness problem writ large....

ATRS comes to mind...? While we're on the topic of anodizing, has anybody done a Rockwell hardness test on their Crypto receiver to see if it actually is indeed type III hardcoat anodized to spec?

Edit: I forgot CADEX too

its likely they are simoky working on it and dont have any uodates to offer. I had this experience with lockhart.

I find it interesting they havent shipped to people who ordered directly from them yet are able to restock G4C. This is why i wont ever purchase directly from the manufacturer

Maybe they ordered them before you ordered yours?

Seems pretty fair to me.

Where does ATRS do theirs then? I’ve handled a bunch of these in different times and they’re all as proper as any black rifles I’ve handled. HK416, Colts, LMT, KAC, Noveske, ACR, XCR etc. I don’t think ATRS sends them outside of Canada to anodize them. So it’s possible right?

Oh and have you handled the DAR22/TU F22 10/22 clone from Dlask?
ATRS apparently get their anodizing done somewhere in Southern AB. I can't comment on their finish, as I have never handled one of their firearrms. The same goes for the Dlask .22 you mentioned. I am speaking to the WK-180, WS-MCR, R18 Mk2, and now the Crypto. Lockhart won't even anodize his Raven, instead he mistakenly insists that a painted Cerakote finish over raw aluminum alloy is adequate! Not cool. Not cool at all....

Yeah the outcome of a well anodized piece of receiver is likely worth hundreds of dollars more that you can upcharge, even if it’s a 6061!
Understood, and agreed. The value and durability benefits of a proper Type 3 Hardcoat Anodized finish inside and out on an aluminum firearm should not be underestimated. If the Turks can provide it properly and quite inexpensively, why can't most Canadian subcontractors seem to get it right?

E.T.A. Sorry for the re-write. I initially couldn't wrap my head around Pina Kaleada's statement. Then it clicked.
