I think everybody is on the same page with regards to that, he's more trying to convey the fact that an NR FRT can very easily (and arbitrarily) become a Prohib FRT overnight. With regards to the Crypto, imo there is no difference if it doesn't have an NR FRT right now and gets prohibbed in 6 months vs it having an NR FRT right now and getting prohibbed in 6 months. An NR FRT isn't a guarantee of anything and provides a domestically manufactured gun no more protection than simply having no FRT entry.At the expense of legal process, even if you win at the end, you aren’t really winning. So there isn’t no value trying to err on the side of safety.
To be more clear, having an NR FRT beats not having an FRT(When similar design have Prohibited FRT!)
IMO, buy what you want when you can and deal with further bans as they appear. Life is too short to stress about what that vile scum in Ottawa can or will do
