Has anyone seen any discrepancy in machine quality from different receiver sets ? I'm waiting to mine in CP strike jail. Looks like they have sorted out some of the anodizing inconsistency. It's not a big deal as this things literally a shell for good parts
Thanks for thatYep, I've tried several BCGs and charging handles, and everything fits just fine. Can't really check it for function until I get the barrel assembly installed, but I have seen nothing to concern me thus far.
I am doing a retro built, think Colt Model 602. Anyone chop their brass deflector off? Or would I be blazing the trail... is it even worth it?
I’ve upgraded mine to the STANAG magazine.Just to give my 2 cents from 2 range trips with the Crypto. The rifle is not near as purple in person as what it looks on pictures. Factory mags are cheap but so far no issues. Possibility of "upgrading" the mag well to STANG mags. I will also be upgrading some parts in the near future (Trigger, grip, stock etc). So far it looks very promising. Perfect rifle for guys who already own ARs looking to put some parts to use.
My August preorder mags just showed up.I’ve upgraded mine to the STANAG magazine.
So much better.
No turning back.
I had ordered a bunch of extra crypto mags from Crusader back in September, I have been billed without receiving any mags. I requested a refund and got crickets.
Correct decision on the upgrade. I wouldn’t bother buying more crypto magsI’ve upgraded mine to the STANAG magazine.

I did the mag well upgrade on mine but will keep the Crypto mags just in case I go to a snooty range. LolCorrect decision on the upgrade. I wouldn’t bother buying more crypto mags
Ive never built an AR. It dosent look too complicated, but I was wondering how hard it is to source quality part on the EE and retailer?I don't have both, but I do have multiple Cryptos (receiver sets) and I highly recommend them to everyone. You put your own quality parts in and they will not let you down.
I have both Crypto and Raven.Im on the fence about getting a crypto or a raven. Im not a fan of crusader arms QC. Im trying to get the closest thing I can to a quality AR and an atrs Modern sporter is out of my price range right now. Few retailers do have crypto in stock but I dont want to get one until im sure the unit I will get will have a perfect black anodizing. For thoses of you who have both wich one will you choose?
I bought one for 599$ back in the day. It was a 4-5 MOA piece of crap that had an out of spec chamber but once i got that sorted out....it was pretty darn solid. Sadly I haven't had it out since the ban.I will wait for Bartok5's review of the MK3 and go from there. I know it is an obsession but I learned over the years to keep a cool head. The next best thing is just around the corner. And then my closet full of stuff I cannot shoot. No Ar's though. But I remember holding a Norinco AR in my hands at Lever Arms, price was $784 as far as I remember, hahaha.
Man. Norc AR’s had been the bomb. I had one of the early gray/ blue painted CQ-311’s it looked like a SP1 but had a funky lumpy handguard.I bought one for 599$ back in the day. I’ve made my pencil barrel A1 into a Vietnam era clone with proper Brownells furniture.
My Pencil Barrel M4 is now an XM177 clone, complete with a very early Aimpoint.
