For $1000 you get a receiver kit that is still legal and that you can still use at the range. If I had acreage it wouldn't matter, but for me the range is the simplest and easiest way for me to get trigger time in.So for 1000$ you get a receiver kit that doesn’t take enhanced bolt carriers ?
Why wouldnt it take an enhanced bcg? First ive heard of this.So for 1000$ you get a receiver kit that doesn’t take enhanced bolt carriers ?
So, who here got one of the new batch of receiver sets? I checked one out Yesterday and am kinda shocked at the lack of quality control on them. I'm curious if this is normal for all of them or if they're rushing to get them out quickly and letting quality slack. The machining seems good enough in the actual areas that matter, but there are lots of areas with clearly visible tool marks, gouges, aluminum flash, very light engraving, and generally poor anodizing quality. Given the price, I'd expect them to at least look cleaner. I'd like to hear others thought on this matter and how theirs look so I can judge if this one was just an anomaly. I know we have to make concessions up here in Soviet Canuckistan regarding price and quality vs. what ARs cost down South but this seems kinda ridiculous to me.
Yup, they are absolute garbage. I'll list all the issues I have with mine, absolutely mind blown it got out the door like this.
The gas block Screws were barely hand tight, and gas key Screws were nowhere near 55 in lbs and improperly staked as the staking made no contact. The dust cover didn't stay closed due to the dust cover latch cutout not being machined in and the magazine catch was not straight, the threaded part is bent quite a bit but still functions. The charging handle is one of those airsoft ones and mine appeared to be a reject part or blemished one as it had major machining issues and didn't even stay latched in since the latch was too short. The upper and lower have a crazy amount of machining marks and are majorly out of spec in many areas and even after fixing the charging handle issue it still would not latch closed due to a gigantic burr on the upper where the charging handle latch rides up to latch over. The handguard is also an airsoft grade handguard which looked like it was a reject part or blem of some sort, it had dents and scratches all over it under the anodizing. The castle nut was also not staked well, that being said they did stake it unlike a lot of other manufacturers, but the castle nut also has a huge rusty spot on it. The upper receiver picatinny rail is also majorly out of spec, it's not even close, so if you are mounting an optic that requires in spec rails for it to work good luck. The bolt catch is also out of spec, the hole for the roll pin is way too big.
Another issue caused by the receivers being out of spec was that with a 22lr kit you would get blasted with gas in the face and it made it almost unusable due to the rear buffer tower being cut down to low making a huge gap between the charging handle and lower.
Overall for $2000 which is even more than I paid for my blem raven 556 which is lightyears better than this thing I cant believe more people aren't complaining, I guess it's just that copium they are all huffing.
I knew all crusader arms products were bad I just didn't expect them to be this bad.
Heres the current state of my Nam clone, couldn't find a barrel with a FSB so I have to DIY it. Just waiting for the good bit and reamer to arrive before I start drilling it as the Faxin barrel is nitrided.
Mine functions perfectly with a JP enhanced BCG, but just a sample of one.So for 1000$ you get a receiver kit that doesn’t take enhanced bolt carriers ?
Don’t need m4 feed ramps on a rifle gas system as far as I’m aware.I haven't heard anyone else chime in that the upper isn't cut for M4 feed ramps. Are guys filing the receivers to match the barrel extensions or leaving them as is?
Just got a notification from RDSC for their Crypto shipment coming inLooks like the pre/back orders are starting to get filled.
RDSC has the .625 gas blocks in stock, the Faxon gunner barrel makes for a good barrel to use for a pencil barrel. Make sure you also get the 2 FSB pins (RDSC), slip ring (not the angled delta ring), the sling swivel, and sling swivel rivet.Well, I almost had one. Had seen a semi-local-gun store the other day and they had 17 in stock. I phoned them on first day off and they had sold out shortly after I'd looked online after CA had made a social media post saying this particular store had them in stock and they got flooded with orders. I've now put my name down for one of the 25 they are expecting to get in 2 weeks
I had a plan to make a A1-style clone like a few others in this thread as I think they are some of the most gorgeous firearms around. I was on Numrich yesterday and tried to order a stock set (comes with buttstock, triangular handguard, and pistol grip) for $75usd. Got an e-mail this morning that they are export restricted, so my order was cancelled
I guess I'll continue searching Canada to try to find all the stock pieces, front sight/gas block, etc I'll need to make a clone

You can order the A1 style carry handle, triangular charging handle, sling swivel rivet all from brownells without issue. I am not sure about the furniture and other parts though as I already had mine.
Sling ring and stock set on Brownells seems to not have any export restrictions
Thanks for the assistance. I assume since the original A1/A2 style had a 20" barrel, a new barrel will be required for this build eh? I assume the handguard and triangular front sight/gas block won't fit on the 18.6" barrel that comes on the Crypto?
I'm completely new to building modern rifles as most of my stuff is old surplus which comes in much less variety and configurations than the new gear
