Can't believe I never even noticed the missing charging handle. But yea, as mentioned I see it on the left side now. Shouldn't even need it threaded, just add a slot in the upper like a sideways L so the upper rail can be removed without the handle getting in the way. I wouldn't think a small slot like that would hurt it's integrity much.

How much parts comaptiblity (not accesorries, but actual parts, like striker, bolt, firing pin, barrel) will this have with current
vz 58s, 858s ?

Any chance of stripped recievers becoming available?

Yes, but taking care of things is sooo hard don't you know. Why can't the whole interior of the gun be chrome lined? That way we can dispense with the whole "maintenance" nonsense entirely.

In all seriousness, I'll be saving my pennies for this gun. Or maybe the 805 if that ends up happening. Or maybe both.

Honestly, a chromed plated vz58 would be cool.

In this country, you gotta make the money first. Then when you get the chrome vz58, you get the power. Then when you get the power, then you get the women.
 
This is fantastic news , you have hit all the right points . parts and magazine commonality with the 858 line and a way to properly mount optics .

i love my 858 and will never give it up but i WILL be buying one of the 958 even if they come in on the $1200 mark
ps: i assume steel for the receiver so what could you expect the weight to increase by ?

Just looks like a standard vz58 with fancy furniture and a chopped barrel.

You know, I'm surprised no one is making something similar. Remove the rear sight, ditch the receiver cover and upper handguard and replace with a single long piece with a full length rail.
Holding zero is another story though.

Chrome or not, I am 100% in. Zero preference.

As for mags, might as well stick with the VZ 58 mags. I have a B&T Adapter on my 858 and if I wanted 10 in this I would just get that done again.

I've already said that I would prefer to see some wood furniture at least alongside the classic polymer.

Under $1000 would be the cherry on top!

Nice idea. I just hope that they continue to make the '58 to its original configuration (Iron sights) as well...
 
Great job with the photoshop! I'm dying to see the real thing. I liked the picture i saw of the sa 58 ms posted so,e pages back because it's a complete modernization of the rifle. Is the new cz958 gonna be just the addition of a rail?!
