Did anyone watch the Winchester 21 two barrel set in Landsborough's Auction? Went for 23k, plus commission, plus tax.
Interesting to compare its engraving and checkering with some of the examples posted in this thread.
It looks almost painterly, if you can say that about etching, smudged and blended, not crosshatchedSpeaking of beauty and skilled craftsmanship here are a couple of samples from arguably the best to ever scratch a piece of steel...

Of interest wrt that auction lots #’s 196 Win21, 200 Holland, 205 Osborne 20ga, 209 Beretta, and 295 Browning Bss, all seem to have been sold to the same buyer, and those were only the ones that I saved to watch for interest’s sake, who knows could be more.....maybe a retailer picking up inventory, somebody buying back their own stuff because they didn’t like the prices they were fetching, or maybe ........somebody just got excitedDid anyone watch the Winchester 21 two barrel set in Landsborough's Auction? Yes, quite interesting. All side by sides---no over unders.
