has anyone tried instaling one of the Magwedge quick rails on a VZ58?

Mine arrived yesterday ...installed last night in 15 minutes(once I figured out how to remove the rear sight LOL!) without any issues! VERY nice fit! Can't wait to try it out this weekend. Will try get some pics posted tonight but VERY happy so far! Thanks Magwedge.

I am glad your are happy so far.

Fingers crossed regarding the range testing, LOL ... I imagine many are waiting to see the results.

Please feel free to post pics on our FB page, the more the merrier.

The position of the scopes for me are perfect. I don't see any problems with this rail for the way my optics are setup.

I'll post some Magwedge for ya.

Well, two days of range testing. The first day with optics - 3 to 4 out of 5 would FTE. Today without optics it has dropped down to 2 to 3 per 5 FTE. I'm using non corrosive Norinco bulk.

Send me an email with your phone number.

It looks as if the corner of the shell deflector has been hit hard. That's an area worth protecting with the velcro supplied with the rail.

Let's talk and see if we can sort this issue out.

I thought I was covering far enough back on the deflector with the Velcro , but the "road rash " goes back pretty far. Indeed to move it back and see if it helps.

This was after 30 rds..
My vz58 is .224 as well if that makes a difference

Well, we knew going in that the CZ has a bit of a reputation for inconsistency, but let's see what happens with further testing.

I have just gotten home now from the 2 day Chilliwack gun show and on the way home stopped at the machinists to see if we could make a further improvement to the rail.

From what I am seeing in the pics the rail is taking far more battering at a key point than I like to see so I am hoping we can make a change which will improve things. The SKS rails don't seem to take the same kind of punishment as the CZ is inflicting on the CZ rail, so we must adapt. With any luck the change we made tonight may help with some of the ejecting issues suffered by Cone. I plan to test it asap and get back to everyone.

Got mine today. I really like the way it looks on the rifle. I was busy working on fishing gear today so I just slammed it on my rifle at lunchtime and took it with me. Lol. Perks of being your own boss.

After we were done work I had a chance to run 20 rounds through it without an optic mounted. Just wanted to function test without optic first. I know 20 rounds isn't a test but we were having steak for supper and I wasn't about to miss that ;)
I had 1 FTE. It looked just like the pic Cone_skid_cone posted. I pulled bolt back enough to dump empty out. It had chambered a round so I let bolt back ahead. Then dead trigger. Just like the gremlin.
Tomorrow I'll try it with scope mounted.
It did get a tiny ding in it right where the scalloping stops.
here's a pic

Nice looking rifle!
It looks like your Velcro is a little farther back, damage seems reduced a bit. Maybe a little more "scalloping" as Lobster put it, and Velcro farther back could help?

Yup. I agree it needs about another 1/2" taken out just to be safe

The "scalloping" as you put it, is exactly where it needs to be .... given the testing I have done with various prototypes.

More protection for the tip however, is definitely recommended.

I would cut the velcro at a bit of an angle and bring it down to cover the tip. The current fix I am working on involves placing a steel screw at that exact point, in order to protect the aluminum better. I am not sure how the shells will react to it yet as I was not able to get to the range today and its closed for the next two days.

This looks really good.
Thanks for the investment in time, parts and money thus far. Hopefully this pays off.

If Lobster could post more pics as he adds optics, that would be greatly appreciated!
