HK MR223 - lots 'o pics

It is actually quite interesting. In the FRT notes section it states that the 416 is "similar" to the M16 (uppers interchange), and that the MR223 is the civilian version. However, in the law reference used to assign class, it states that the reason it is restricted is because of barrel length only. Based on that, one could install a 471mm+ barrel and it should be classed as NR.

Not quite. It is my understading (after speaking with multiple poeple at the CFC) that once a receiver is regsitered as restricted.. it can NEVER be re-registered as non restricted. A perfect example is the Ruger Charger...

Now if that is the case then this MR223 with a 18.5 barrel would be the cats ass!
So HK in their neutreing has made this even better!
LOL at HK

So who can make barrel for this? Maybe ATR can make a nice stainless one for it.

No no no... you guys are going the wrong way. This thing should be shortened by 5.5" and get proper muzzle threading.

People re-register Beretta Storms as non-restricted.

Good point!

Not to side track this thread... but any idea why a Ruger Charger cannot be re-registered as non-restricted if you install a longer barrel and it meets the minimum OAL for NR? I have been told twice by the CFC that it is impossible. I ask this question because I was asked to verify that very situation for an individual. You can answer via PM so we don't hijack this thread. Much appreciated!

Because its a pistol (arme de point) and that can never be re-registerd as a rifle... in canada.

If HK will produce an 18+ barrel and with the proper home work, you figure this puppy can be taken out for walks in the bush? I said HK to keep it all from the same manufacturer + I like HK quality.

Man, that would be fantastic - a real breakthrough indeed. Or am I dreaming?

Looks good UncleWalther. Have you tried to attach a normal grip to see if it works, does it say anything about 5.56 in the manual.

Thanks and enjoy

I got the answer for you. Just received my MR223 today. I got an extra Ergo grip and I just installed it. It fited just fine. I will post pic on Monday. Regular AR Mag fits very well with this gun as well.

I almost lost that little spring when I removed the grip. I take it this spring is a standard feature on ARs? So far, RRA 10 round mags work well in mine. Pmags don't fit (I am still deciding if I am going to try some strategic sandiing to make it fit). I am going to try some mil spec GI mags this week. Still don't have my HK mag. These guns are showing up in many places now, not just CRAFM. Wolverine and P&D have them.

UncleWalther, have you found the flash hider for your gun?

YIKES!
I got to handle one of these 'boat anchors' today.....WTF!
Heavy...period...front heavy....Oh yeah!!!
I am soooo glad that I ignored the urge to put a deposit down on one of these when they were first announced...
No FH.....'tacticool' cardboard box...no sights....Hey...what's not to like.
If anyone is kicking their ass over 'missing out' on one of these..worry not!
Spend less money, and enjoy your 'better in every way' Swiss Arms...
I know that I am!
