How to make people angry on GunNutz - USMC M1903 Unertl Rifle 30-06 Reproduction

LOLLL!!!

My friend who runs "Forgotten Weapons" said this is a civvie gun with a repro scope AND re-finished and its worth about half that!!!
Where do you get "civvie gun" ?

Better yet, get "your friend" to call me. We've met before, and I'd love to hear this from his own mouth.

NONE of this justifies your Bubba'd comment. It is a legitmate clone build by a very reputable gunsmith.

You don't like the price then don't buy it. Seems there are plenty of people out here in the anonymous troll-land who disagree with you, and would be happy to buy into a chance to win this rifle.

I'm not Goose762, I only used the words refurb and refurbished so please identify your target properly before pulling the trigger. ;) :p

Why does it say "reproduction" when the description is not of reproductiing rifles but a Bubba job of an existing rifle

Nobody is discrediting the quality of work that was done but it is no longer original condition from the factory.

The gunsmiths actions taken to remove the original finish and patina from this rifle "Bubba'd" it by textbook definition and took away from its value regardless of how nice the new finish is.

In the context of firearms, a "Bubba'd rifle" or "Bubba" refers to a historically significant firearm that has been permanently altered or modified, often in a way that diminishes its historical value or original condition.

Here's a more detailed explanation:

  • "Bubba" as a Noun:
The term "Bubba" can be used to describe someone who is known for modifying or altering firearms, often without regard for their historical or collectible value.
  • "Bubba'd" as an Adjective:
"Bubba'd" can be used as an adjective to describe a firearm that has been modified or altered in a way that is considered undesirable or damaging to its historical integrity.
  • Why the Term Exists:
The term "Bubba" is used to express a negative opinion about the modification of historical firearms, as the modifications are seen as disrespectful to the firearm's history and value.
  • Examples of Bubba'd Modifications:
These modifications can include things like:
    • Changing the stock material or style.
    • Adding modern accessories that don't fit the firearm's original design.
    • Re-finishing or re-bluing the metal parts.
    • Modifying the trigger or action.

It's a given people will enter a raffle to win this rifle for $20-50, that does not mean they disagree with my statements.

Nobody is willing to pay the heavily inflated price the seller is asking, if they were you would have posted it has sold but here we are nearly a month later.

Since this important detail hasn't been confirmed so far, do the serial numbers of the base 1903 rifle used for this clone match?

Hi Grove,

Yes as far as I can tell the original 1903 is all matching.

I'd like to know which dictionary you are using to label work refinishing a rifle by a qualified gunsmith as "Bubba'd"

He’s joking…that being said, you instantly believed the guy who said his buddy did “valuations for the antiques roadshow” & it was worth more…

So you could instantly tell he was joking from his original post? I doubt that very much. Either that or you're just d!ck riding Harv.

Heaven forbid they take someone at their word. Maybe you're just be used to hanging around liars and cheats? Here's a suggestion: find some better company, you'd be less cynical and probably a lot happier in life.

Some people are such cretins. Showed this build to a friend who values firearms on the TV show Antiques Roadshow ( PBS ) His opinion it is valued at $4000.00 to $4500.00 USD. ( sound of harp )

One person claiming the rifle is worth $4000-4500 USD from a friends appraisal is from "Parts Unknown"...

This other person flipping out over anyone questioning the value is also from "Parts Unknown"...

Both profiles made two weeks apart...

Both profiles attacking peoples personal character...

You sir sure come off as one angry shill, one might even get the impression you are the rifle owner or related to the business given your reactions.

Wow, two accounts were created within 2 weeks of each other? Must be a conspiracy.

Please show me where I was "flipping out" over questioning the value? In my previous posts, I simply presented opinions about the breakdown of the build as I interpreted it, and pointed out that it was never misrepresented by the business, as several posters made it seem. But please explain to me how that constitutes "flipping out"? The only angry ones in here seem to be you and the few others who don't seem to understand the basic premise of capitalism or market economies.

I've never shilled for anyone in my life, it's not my rifle and I'm not related to the business in any way. All I was doing was trying to inject some facts and logic into a weirdly emotional discussion by "adults" who are acting like spoiled children. I should have known better than to try that here on CGN.

Also, it's real rich of you to talk about attacking character LOL. Did you or did you not say this about VRS:

"That is some JR Cox type of garbage behaviour, thanks for confirming your lack of principles in the name of profit."

Why aren't either of those things possible? Maybe I'm gullible, but I guess I was giving you the benefit of the doubt (my mistake, won't happen again), partially because of your service in the CAF. In any case, you've now tarnished your own and your unit's reputation significantly for me here, so congratulations on your "joke".
