Is it worth it to get the restricted license to get handguns

Absolutely. I only wish I did it sooner.
When I tested for my PAL (FAC) way back in the day the guy asked if I wanted to test for restricted as well. I told him, “No, I’m good I’ll just do the NR”. He asked again and said “you really should, it’s not much more work and then you’ll have it”. Being stubborn I declined and have been kicking myself since. So many missed opportunities. Dumbass!!!

I kinda did something similar when getting my PAL. Just did the RPAL this week and yes OP it’s worth getting it.

There was 12 students in the class I just did - good to see.

Food for thoughts…

In a safe made for 35 long guns you can easily fit 100 handguns, this is a good enough reason to get your RPAL.

I've been shooting for over 42 years, and the one thing I have noticed is my interests have changed throughout the years. For a while I was only interested in plinking, then I became interested in hunting, a few years later I started shooting Service Rifle and Service Sniper Competitions. A few year later because I was in an area where 25-50 meter ranges were the rule, I got into IPSC for 10 years, change of location I got into 3 gun and World War 2 re-enacting. These days because of age, I shoot Cowboy Action because I don't have to move as far or fast as I did 30 years ago. Shooting is a addictive sport, but as your circumstances change so will your interests. Get an RPAL and buy at least 1 handgun, you won't regret it.

You bet!!!

If all gun owners also had their restricted we would all have much more weight/pull when the antis start shaking their pitch forks...power in numbers instead of this (fudd approved) divide and conquer BS.

Currently it is about 1/4 of legal gun owners have their restricted licence.

Having an RPAL is......awesome!!!!

You get to handle all the toys in the sandbox, it's just so much fun to goto a gun shop and be able to look and buy everything. While the regular PAL holder can't even touch the AR or pistol you're fondling at the counter. Lol

Most of all it's about adding to the numbers, and strengthening our position. Once the restricted guns are banned, in whatever manner, they'll simply move the bar lower, until it's just .22lr, and .12 gauge., in the rural countryside, like England.

That's what I call a dedicated sportsman..Congrats

I've always been of the opinion that any time there's an opportunity to get another qualification - dosen't matter if you are going to use it or not you should get it. I've had an opportunity when I still worked to get a class 1 driver's license and I took it. Never used it but I have it. I took every course I could at work and I'm glad I did.

Get all the qualifications when you can, while you can. You just never know what the future holds. If there's another Liberal majority (God Forbid) and they decide that all RPALs will now be grandfathered and there will be no more issued, you'll be glad you did.

Get your RPAL and encourage others to do likewise, for the satisfaction of shooting a wider variety of firearms, and the sake of the sport.

A Big 10-4 to acquiring your RPAL! Not only for the miles of smiles hand gunning brings, better than skeet for competition I find and the middle finger salute to Government is satisfying also. Just to let them know we are here and vote......

pal =$700 Norinco m-305..... rpal=$650 S&W mp 15, the $50 saved is partial payment on your rpal, not pistols but hope that helps.
