Issues With BC Chief Firearms Officer

bought the lower last week, From Sask Gun works. One i sold was to a private individual, same time frame. I am thinking that guys who have had lots of transfers still go through fast, while newer guys have a bit of a wait.

Ive sold plenty to guys from BC, their transfer times use to be as fast as Alberta's. Until my last transfer, the longest i had to wait was just over two weeks for a gun going to Ontario.

BC CFO is having issues. The CFC in NB confirmed that they are really backed up for some reason. Everybody who is saying their is a problem are not imagining it.

What I do not understand is why BC is so impacted and overwhelmed with applications for rPAL, ATT and transfers. How does the rest of Canada cope so well?

Well got this today, be interesting to see where it goes.

so whats the wait time right now

4-6 weeks for a first-time LTATT. And no restricted transfers will be approved until this is approved.

5-10 days for restricted purchased from a business.

4-8 weeks for restricted purchased from an individual.

That's just a summary. There is a ton of variation. A few people report times far shorter than this. A few people report times longer than this.

Can posters please assist by providing the following:

Submission Date: (mine was June 1st)
First Restricted (yes/no): (yes for me)
Short term / Long term ATT: (LATT for me)

I'm trying to gather some facts for a submission to my MP.

Status Update: 27 working days since submission, 2 unreturned messages, 11 unanswered calls.

Submission Date: August 17, 2012
First Restricted: Yes
ATT/LTATT: LTATT applied over the phone

3 answered calls early last week, 9 unanswered calls since. No conclusive answers as to expected turn around time.

It took about 6 weeks to do my LTATT & STATT (first restricted purchase), but I was able to call in today and get them to add a 2nd address to my LTATT - got it emailed to me within 1 hour.

As of today (sept 7) it's been 74 days - 10 weeks/2 days for my wife's rpal.

We did everything the same, same instructor etc. Both apps mailed in the same envelope.

My app took 40 days, as one of my references was on holidays. We have the same references etc.

I had her call the 1-800-731-4000 yesterday, and the word is that the "B.C. Office is trying to catch up on the backlog, they're a month behind"

I guess it's ok, we consertively figured it'd take a year to get our licences. 8 months for me, longer for her! and she's the nice one in the family.

I had planned to buy her a nice little .22 handgun for her birthday but I guess that will have to wait till next year.

Samething for me backlog that means more overtime work but the budget says no so they make people wait I'm renewing and its been since April

Re..BC CFO

I just called in to check on a transfer of a handgun..the first woman told me 7-10 business days to complete..I called back in and the second lady said it would be 5-10 weeks...BC is swamped..so I ask everyone here is this not a Government funded service to the taxpayer??? What kind of service are we getting for our money and more importantly why do we have 2 levels of Government doing the same thing and milking us like a Holstein??? It is not right, it does nothing for prevention of crime, it is not expedient and it is truly a waste of tax money we could use for other things...thus ends my rant..
