You sure that it doesn't read "Figli" instead?
So "Zoli and Sons".
Although I've never visited the area, I can imagine the "casino" of a bunch of Italian makers, all related to each other in some form, sharing (stealing) machinery, parts, designs... My sxs is marked "Armi U. Gitti, Gardone V.T." It was bought new by uncle back in the 50's. The birds that were hunted included pheasants, but more often it was smaller birds like European Starlings that were taken.
20 GAUGE not sure about the maker???

RE: Post 329 - Baker New Era Nitro Hammerless
Straightshooter,
You are a super shooter with a camera ; that is
a top-drawer photo.
this gun looks just like the merkel 47 my dad just bought , im not 100% but like 90% its a merkel
Here's a close up of the left side lock of an interesting gun I just took delivery of.
Very cool, because although it is not a real high end piece, it has hammers and chrome lined bores, I intend to use it for realy nast weather hunting with BP loads and Nice Shot insteasd of wrecking my Westley Richards in said nasty weather!
It is made by San Marco, BTW.

To say I was impressed would be an understatement , for sure- pleasantly surprised would be a bit better!By strange coincidence, I picked up one of those, too. Mine has become my "go to" pheasant gun. I like it for pheasants because, in addition to the SXS open-hammer config that I like (and the right chokes), it can handle the heavy loads. With double under lugs, side clips, and a rib extension/Greener cross bolt, it doesn't get much more solid than that!!
