Let's see your C7 clones! (and C8 clones too, I guess...)

My lame attempt at a retro C8 clone.

And to all the Captain Obvious simpletons, it is semi auto only, not capable of anything else:rolleyes:

Sorry, had to make comment, because someone would, it happens all the time.

Another lame clone attempt.

Koldt. Is that a fake sear pin above the selector?

Koldt's C-8 lower is inaccurate in that it has a serial number with the 2-digit year, then AA then the 5 digit serial number....a proper C-8 should have an "AB" serial number.

Is the fake sear pin part of the aluminum forging, or it is a steel pin stop pressed into recesses cut on either side of the receiver? My understanding is that to through-drill the lower for a sear pin would be illegal.

I think you can have the pin in the correct place as long as the inside of the receiver is not milled out for the part that goes with it.

True, but if I remember, Dlask does mill out the recess - as do most Ar makers to save weight and for G-code simplicity since most makers also make F/A guns for LE sales.

I've got a Dlask from the same age range as the one in question and it is not milled out for an auto sear. Here is an example pic from the net to show the difference:

One way I can think of doing it now it to get an 80% lower from Dlask, have it engraved (save a lot of hassel I suspect with it not yet being a firearm), then have someone or yourself finish it and register it.

I've been gathering parts for an early C7 clone, but the lower is the one nagging question. At this point, I'm contemplating an 80% lower. Have it engraved, finish it myself, then register it. Seems like the best option for getting an authentic looking clone lower, although barrels are also problematic.

This is as close as I can to get mine to look like a C7A2 Clone. Otis grip kit, Ambi everything, Norgon ambi mag catch, ambi cocking handle. accu-wedge. Ambi selector. Even has the correct A2 mount for the C79. Still looking for an original new style bayonet, so the M9 will have to do until then. The receiver is a Bushmaster "Law Enforcment/Military only" model.

Older bases (upgraded) have a rough stamped A2 on the left hand side. New manuafactured ones have a more "milled" A2 in larger letters engraved right from the factory.

Yeah, I knew that, I meant how can you tell mechanically it's been changed? My understanding is they just add some spring(s) to it?

Mine, snapped with crappy BlackBerry camera technology in my dark basement.

A real bitser, but it works. Armalite lower, Cerro Forge-marked upper, DPMS LPK, 1:7 government profile barrel (Wilson, if memory serves), ELCAN trit long-dead. Picked up most of the parts off the EE and from sponsors.

Now to get working on converting my shorty into a C8. :)
