M14s in 7.62x39 coming to Canada?

ever wonder why you hardly see any Lee's at the range anymore? they made thousands upon thousands. it's because the ammo is scarce now and expensive. so why even bother.

making new 303 rifles is a bad idea that is designed to FAIL.

I see them all the time, and bring mine with me as well. It's not that much more costly than handloading for .308, in fact it's very similar in cost.

But I agree: an M-14 in 303 is about the worst idea ever.

right there beside an m14 in 7.62 x 39 (for eight hundred and fifty something dollars LOLOLOLOL)

the canadian firearms industry just killz me sometimes with the dumb ideas that are just meant to take your money.
give us a quality new semi auto detacheable magazine 7.62x39 rifle for 1000.00 or less , don't peddle some redsigned 500.00 rifle and "test it out" on the candian firearms community.
I'd rather get fleeced in the EE for a used SKS -D than spend the kind of money they are asking for this abortion LOL

what happened to .243 , .260 rem, .338 federal ? surely the chinese can build barrels in these calibers in the m305 pattern. Time and time again the canadian m14 community has called out for these rifles in these calibers and the response is 7.62 x 39??

I remain unimpressed haha and back to my cave i go.

Well I would dig a .303 version if it was possible. What the hell, pretty much all ammo is damn expensive these days. If I hadn't heard how crappy the mohawks were I'd have one by now. As for these new ones Im hoping that this will make finding some 5/10 round ak mags easier... I have an AIA in x39 I wouldn't mind a few extra for...

The bolt face isn't big enough for the rimmed 303 cartridge for one thing, that's why the SVT was converted in the past because it already has the proper sized bolt face.

Dimensions of the .303, .308/7.62x51 and 7.62x39:

.303 British
Base diameter 11.68 mm (0.460 in)
Rim diameter 13.72 mm (0.540 in)
Rim thickness 1.63 mm (0.064 in)

.308 Winchester
Base diameter 0.4709 in (11.96 mm)
Rim diameter 0.4728 in (12.01 mm)
Rim thickness 0.0539 in (1.37 mm)

7.62 NATO
Base diameter 0.470 in (11.9 mm)
Rim diameter 0.473 in (12.0 mm)
Rim thickness 0.050 in (1.3 mm)

7.62x39
Base diameter 11.35 mm (0.447 in)
Rim diameter 11.35 mm (0.447 in)
Rim thickness 1.50 mm (0.059 in)

So that is a difference of 1.71mm, or 0.855mm per side. A thicker bolt face could easily be substituted if that is too much material to remove.

There already are 10 round AIA mags for these rifles in 7.62x51 so what's the benefit?

Where? How much? Every retailer who had them at one point has been sold out for years.

The No1 has a "prescribed" mag limit of 10 rounds anyway, so anything over that is prohibited, even in the No1.
ii) is a rifle of the type commonly known as the “Lee Enfield” rifle, where the magazine is capable of containing not more than 10 cartridges of the type for which the magazine was originally designed

That is not a limit, that is a specific exemption for the ten round magazine because of the Charlton automatic rifle, because C-68 was written by idiots. The twenty round magazine is not prohibited. If it were put into production, it would be legal to own and use without blocking to ten rounds.

That is arguably as bad as .303.

For the sake of argument I might add... I guess my point was chambering a full size battle rifle with an other large rifle caliber is logical. It makes up for the extra beef of the M14 platform. Chambering a full size battle rifle with an intermediate cartridge makes zero sense in my mind. It's just my opinion.

A downsized M14 (let's just say a Chinese made M1 carbine or mini-14 copy) that takes AK mags makes far more sence...

unfortunatley there are suckers born every minute and some folks in the industry rely on them haha
the crazy part is.... there are already guys actually balls in on buying one
the old adage... a fool and his money shall soon be parted

I will leave the 7.62 X 39 duties to the VZ 58. But seeing where the MSRP is on new Norinco imports was the push I needed to pick up a M305 in .308 Win from SFRC's spring sale. Just a hair over $575 after discount and $95 less than Cabelas current sale price.

no way the BHO will ever work, reguardless of mag used. mag doesnt even come close to touching the tab, nevermind the follower touching it.

to run an aftermarket stock, it looks like one could get some correct thickness steel, cut and fold and attach to a stock to make it fit.

Powerwagon is it Reliable? Range report? More accurate than sks??

I'm fairly supprised there are no range reports really yet

I ain't biting at $800 +/- to my door.... I have a 308 Nork14 which was $500 in 2013's batch of imports.
I'll stick with the SKS's until someone brings in the T81 and it drops or retails at $800.
And for all the TI nuthuggers that haven't seen a rifle or their $1000 in 2 years now....just remember the T97 was $1100 when it arrived and our dollar was par. Now they are $700-$750 and our dollar is 30% lower. There is one hell of a markup on Chinese guns...

I think the T97 is at 750$ because there is a FTU model at 1100$ and then T97 gen 2 at 1200-1300$ that is available now.

There were dealers selling it for $800-$850 a month after they landed. I don't give the ones that kept the price at $1000-$1100 any money since that fleecing.
