M40 Family - Who owns one?

So my health took a turn for the worse and the same day my daily driver decided to kick the bucket, at the same time my monthly bills became due. I don't really want to do it but I'm looking at maybe listed the M40A1 for sale. If I do I'd be listing it for a pretty high price because I really don't want to sell it. I'd much rather find some other way to pay the bills.

Jeez that sucks. Best of luck.

Thanks, I will. It's a clone not an actual M40. So parts were pretty easy to get ahold of. Scope and rings would be a bit harder to come by.

Remington 700 SPS Varmint left hand from Reliable Gun.
Boyd's walnut classic stock ordered from Boyd's
Scope Redfield 3x9 Accurange on Gun Nutz
Rings were also found on Gun Nutz (Leupolds are temporary).
Mount I modified and built.

You did a real nice job on it. Given me some ideas too!

That’s a tough one...hope you can get your health sorted!

I looked at the new Remmy M-24 and the Police special the other day,,, both are pretty close in some ways.

My building plan can change according to my needs in the clone idea.

I like plinking long range, but I also like the idea of packablity for hunting,,, so a mid weight barrel mounted in a Carbon fiber Vartec stock.

Lucky thing that 2 of my Remmy's are chambered in the right cartrage,,, that will save me a pile of funds since my cabinets are full of brass,,, primers,,, and bullets.

Ye Ha,,, bring on the good times

Having both, I'd say that besides both being Rem700 actions... the 2 a completely different. Action smoothness and tolerances is Awesome in the M24, average on the 700P. Parrel is 26'' vs 24'' and profile is not the same at all. The M24 barrell is HUGE ! Finish on the M24 is a paint on coating vs standard parkerise for the 700P.

Don't you dare let go of that rifle man !!

Get yourself sorted best you can but hang onto that rifle.

I thank you all for the offers to help. I have figured out a way to most likely pay for my bills and keep my rifle. So after spending all morning at the hospital dealing with tests I went to the range with a friend to relax. It's nice having someone that forces you to push yourself.

He keeps saying he's not that great of a shooter but I've been arguing with him on that fact and I think today I've proven it. He brought out his Remington 700 AAC-SD with a Vortex 6-24 PST in 308 and I of course brought out my M40A1. He didn't have any good ammo, just some Federal Power-Shok 150gr... you know, the Blue Box lowest of the low. With it he managed to pull off this 4 shot group (he was so amazed as was I he forgot to shoot his 5th round).

So I had to step up my game and started thinking of all the excuses I could muster. I shot my first round and it was 2 inches high. I immediately though something was going on with my gun since I had been doing random bullseyes before this. I told him I figured I pulled my shot and took a second... and it went through the same hole. I was wondering what was going on when he looked over and asked me, "Is your scope set for 200 yards?". Sure enough I looked and the dial on my MST-100 was still set at "2". Oops! I figured I'd just leave it there and shot my last three rounds and pulled out this 100 yard group.

All in all it was a good day although the sun disappeared soon after we started shooting. We had a lot of fun and I hope we can go out again.

I call this picture "Grandpa and Grandson" :p
