M40 Family - Who owns one?

Here's the crown, the rifle is pretty greasy right now. The profile is correct to USMC specs as far as I can tell, ATRS had some in stock and that definitely helped expedite things. They put the crown on it, I'm happy with it.
The whole point was to get myself a rifle that was an homage the originals. I know there are people who want every last detail including the barrel maker. I have no problem with that, but my wallet does. I'm thrilled with the work they did, just need to get it warmed up at the range to see how I can shoot with it.

The stock took a lot longer than McMillan quoted me when I talked to them direct. I contacted ATRS after McMillan told me to go through a dealer to save hassles. ATRS took my order and handled everything.
After the stock finally showed up at their shop, it was 2 weeks from me asking them to do the build to when they emailed to say it was ready to ship.
I was getting a bit impatient waiting for the stock, but that was on McMillan's end as far as I know. Once ATRS had it and we hashed out a plan, it happened really fast.
Sounds good to me. I'm no hell with a rifle, but it would be fun regardless.

I'll admit the T10 isn't ideal on my .17hmr Savage. But I wanted to sort of simulate a cheaper rimfire version of an M40 and stick with the basic idea of getting used to an old style 10x. I guess if I wanted a more authentic optic to go with the wood stock I'd pick up a 3-9 of some sort. Lots of time to sort that out, varmint season is pretty much over here now.
So are you going with a McMillan style a1 with the new build? Your pic with a smear stock was nice, I assume that's your goal. I'd love to have that stock you posted. An early transitional style rifle would be very nice eye candy.
I originally debated on making an M40A1 in .223 as well but I've decided to hold off on that. Besides the cost of the build itself, the cost of the ammo isn't that much different I've realized now that I picked up my Howa.
On average, the .308 Match I shoot now, run about $40 a box. The .223 Match ammo I just purchased is only about about $5 cheaper per box. Not a whole lot of huge savings and really target shooting with a 223 at the same distances as the 308 isn't as easy, especially if there is any wind

I'm no expert but that's my thinking too. I want to stick with one thing at a time.
