Mannlichers....

Thanks for sharing...just looking from my BlackBerry so can't see the detail - it is really interesting that they retained the front lugs; made them multi-lug like current SBS; then soon after ceased production. Must have still been too expensive to manufacture and sell. The grizzly story must be interesting!! ??

I have a couple of very old boxes of Dominion ammunition for the "6.5mm MANN. SCHOEN."

On the top flap of the box it says:
"For use in rifles of Mannlicher-Schoenauer Model 1903 pattern. This calibre is also known as 6.5x53 M-Sch., 6.5x54 M-Sch. and 6.7mm M-Sch.
(then in French)
Important: Not interchangeable with any other type of 6.5mm ammunition."

So somewhere, at some point in time, some people/manufacturers also referred to the 6.5x54 as the 6.5x53

Do you still have this ammo? I have a 6.5 x 54 M-S.

I guess 1899 put me on ignore...thanks.

Anyone want to buy a rifle?

Hey, take it easy there! You never pm'd me and I haven't checked back on this thread.

Yes, I do still have the ammo. It is not for sale but I know where there is 2 or 3 boxes of current production RWS for sale. I believe the price is *ahem* $94/box. You could always pick up some Privi brass and roll your own. On that note though, for some reason I could not get 160gr Hornady RN bullets to feed well from my M1903.

Bet that little Greek Mannlicher could tell lots of interesting stories - thanks for sharing the photo's!!

A few more Mannlichers to share. First the Steyr variety. A Model SL in .223 with a spectacular piece of wood. This one is so pretty I may need to sell it because I can't bear the notion of it bouncing around on the back of the ATV.

A Model S 7mm mag ready to do its stuff.

The hybrid. A Model 72 carbine in .30-06. Sweet little, good shooting rifle with a weird safety.

And finally the real thing. A Model 52, 7x57 - by far my current favorite

Great

Its great to see pictures of these rifles. This "Mannlicher" thread seems to be working.

Here's a picture of some Mannlichers and Mannlicher-type rifles taken at a gun show on the "not for sale" section of my table. (From the top, 1959 Husqvarna 30-06, 1954 Sako .222 Rem., 1945 Brno 8x57 JS, 1919 Mannlicher-Schoenauer 6.5x54, 1928 Mann.-Sch. "Sequoia"30-06):

Steyr-Mannlicher Model L in 22-250 Rem. Fullstock, DST. Made in 1968, first year of production and it has the early features like a three-position safety (later versions are two-position) and trigger guard mag release. Near new. Scope is a 60's Bushnell Banner 4X.
