My 22 shoots 1/2" groups at 50 yards/meters all day! Really? Prove it!

Any luck yet? My 10/22 is getting lonely.

I had got out, maybe only got off 10 res to prep the barrel, and my firing return spring broke. ( the taper on the spring bent. )

So It will be a while before I get back out. Its funny you ask....

I"m actually back in Edmonton, and today going to check Mill Arms & P&D for a spring with upgraded pin.

I'm hoping I can get a VQ upgrade.

IF I can get one today, I'll be back home Mid Feb for a week. I'll be sure to get out and get back on here with my results.

I'm confident I will join the club, as it is "very accurate" for a 10/22 ( I would sure hope so for the amount of $ I spent on it! )

First attempt at it today. Shooting a vostok mu-12 and cci standard velocity. Conditions were less than ideal with temps about 1 degree and winds about 30-40km. On one page, got 3 groups under .5 and the other 2 were .53 and .51. :(
Pretty sure I can do it under better conditions but talk is cheap I suppose.

***Oops, just re-read the rules and I had more than 5 targets on the page so it wouldn't have counted anyway.

Ive tried 3 times. I have a cz455 with yodave trigger and vortex viper 4-12power scope. off of sandbags even, i cant get there. I shoot groups 0f .38 then .62 then .51 then .40 I just cant get it consistent yet. but I swapped it over to the .17HMR barrel and I dont think its going back :)
so now Im going to try with my 10/22 again!! Im pulling the exact same groups with my 10/22. Its got a Brimstone trigger, Tactical Innovations matched receiver/bolt, and Dlask 12.5" bull barrel with a Vortex Diamondback 2-7power scope.

Either way... tough shooting!

Sounds like my set up and identical experience. RWS Rifle Match was an ammo that showed a lot of promise when I first starting shooting the 455, but I had a limited supply and I haven't got any more yet. Managed one 0.221 grouping today. Best so far, but I couldn't stay under .5 consistently. :-( Time to pillar bed I think, and pray for some RWS to show up.

Here's my entry!

Setup:
Sako Quad with Lilja barrel
Sightron SII Big Sky 4-16x (@16x)
SK Rifle Match
50 meters

Groups:
1. .475
2. .443
3. .349
4. .495
5. .480
AVERAGE: .448

This is my biggest group... almost didn't make it! :S

Smallest group:

Now I need to work on bringing down that average. I'd like to beat .400" one day. To do that I need to get rid of the "off" shots in group 1 and 2. Group 4 and 5 were getting shot towards the end of the day and I was getting tired and nervous! ahhahaha Maybe I need more expensive ammo like Center X or Midas+...

Nice shooting and nice setup.

I have been looking at the SIIB line from Sightron for my CZ 452 Varmint; any issues?

Thanks!!

Absolutely not! Very solid scope with great glass. I swap the scope between my Sako Quad and my Tikka T3 7mm Rem Mag for big game without any issues (took down a moose last season). My only complaint with the scope is the adjustment turrets. Although they are solid and repeatable, the "clicks" are pretty soft when adjusting it. So you have to be careful when doing it. You don't a firm/positive click, click, click.

If you're seriously interested in this scope and are worried about the turrets issue, PM me and I could probably email you a video of what I mean.

This is only a minor issue, I'd recommend that scope any day of the week!

I'm not going to say names but I think some of these groups might have happened at 25 yards ;)

All play aside.. do you guys like the gold box SK ammo stuff I see you all using? A guy at the range swears by it but I've only ever fired cheaper hollow point game loads like fed and win in my Sav MK II Thumbhole. Without wind it will hold an inch or 3/4 pretty easily to 50 yards using Federal (sans the occasional flier).. if that SK stuff makes a difference maybe I should give it a shot?

Well every rifle is different, but generally speaking, SK Standard+ and SK Rifle Match is fairly superior than bulk ammo in accuracy and consistency. You can even go higher in quality with Lapua Center-X and Midas+. There's Eley also but I can't seem to find any of that in NB.

The amount of fliers is much less with better ammo. I'd expect your groups to shrink with better ammo.

Time for this thread to be bumped up!

Was out today doing some testing to find out what ammo the CZ 452 prefers; not enough time to decide and try the challenge though...

Mods; why is this thread not a sticky???

Amazing shooting with a 10x scope. Congrats.
