My PAL

I am in Quebec. Sent application on Dec 11th. Screwed up CC expiry date, and finally payment was processed on December 23rd. Called once, on February 9th, was only told it was in progress. As of today "Current Status: Your application has been processed and your licence has been issued. If you have not received your licence within 2 weeks please contact the Canada Firearms Centre Toll Free number. (1-800 731-4000)". No calls to references or myself. All in all, I am a happy camper today.

Application Received on: 2009/01/26

Current Status: Your application has completed initial processing. It is now in progress. Please check the status again at a later date.

I'm impatient already considering I mailed it Jan. 7th lol

When its 'completed initial processing' call the CFO of your province. I did, and recieved it within two weeks. A friend of mine, who applied at the same time as me with each other as references, did not call the CFo and didnt get his until three motnhs later. (after i convinced him to call the CFO).

RPAL... Can't wait!

There is no legislated 28 day waiting period.....

C-17 had it, but that was superceded by C 68.

The just dog-f**k.......

Not in legislation, but not doggiedoing either. The source of the 28 day period is the Regulations, which say:

5. A chief firearms officer may not issue a licence referred to in subsection 3(1) to an applicant until at least 28 days have elapsed since the application was made, unless the applicant holds, at the time of applying for the licence,

(a) a firearms acquisition certificate that is deemed under section 120 of the Act to be a licence; or

(b) a licence to possess firearms, including a possession licence whose holder is less than 18 years old.

SOR/2004-274, s. 6.

It's day 29 for mine. Called the CFC they say Alberta is the hold up. They won't put me through to them. Anyone know the Alberta CFO phone #, all that is on the site is a fax #.

Thanks

Woot woot.

Oddly I called them yesterday inquiring if they had any record of receiving my application and they had no record. I had sent it out Xpress post on the 2nd of March with guaranteed delivery on the 4th. Canada post never showed receipt so I called them last week and they refunded my postage!! (got the check Monday) - Should I give it back

Where the hells the dancing banana!!!
