PDW builds - Lets see them, and share results

I was really tempted to get the B&T TP9 - but I couldn't get past the 5-round capacity, so I went with a Glock 17 in a Hera GCC kit instead. In terms of sheer "fun", this is probably my favourite pistol caliber PDW.

I had a short-barrel PS90 and I have to say that it was an absolute riot to shoot - even more so than an MP7. Looking forward to trying the Kriss Super-V.

I tried the Kriss in Utah along with a tommy gun, FNH2000, P90, a couple others. I liked the 45cal round. The Tommy G was my favorite of the bunch though for some reason.

As for the 5rnd mags, you just get to practice you mag changes that much more often. LOL

Who makes an M4 left folder so I can get rid of the collapseable stock on my Hera kit.

FS2000 I assume? I really like mine - but then I also have a thing for bullpups. I made a decision a while ago not to own anything that I couldn't have a legal 10-round capacity for. Practice aside, there's only so much 'thrill' you can tolerate before it loses something... ;)

Since the Olds range is closed, all of my restricted guns are collecting dust, which sucks. Thanks God 50cal rifles aren't resticted. LOL

How does putting a pistol in a stock...

Glocks are just more fun this way. :D

I had a HERA kit for a little while. And it was fun. But after using it a few times, I decided I was either going to train with my pistols or my carbine.... And if I wanted to just have fun, I can have enough fun with the same guns as well.

While the potential for slightly better accuracy is there due to how you're holding the gun, it's not gonna magically increase the velocity of the round, enabling it to reach further and hit harder.

That's more what I was getting at.....

How does putting a pistol in a stock and firing it from the shoulder allow the round to travel more easily and hit harder than firing it offhand, or even supported on a bench?

Especially with a cheap, no-name red dot?

well Mr. Popo, since this is a thread about Personal Defense Weapons, feel free to share with the class what the ft.lbs of energy of a 230gr 45ACP round is vs a 55gr 223 round at 100-200yds. I think if I remember correctly, I said the bullets hit hard, but my ballistic software doesn't have handgun rounds so this will be educational for all.

As for marginal accuracy gain with a Hera stock over shooting a handgun offhand, I'll put money on that if you're interested. I'll even use my 'cheap' hollow site if you're up to the challenge.

As for training with a handgun, I agree so I bought myself another Kimber.

Can I put money on the WP? I am puzzled why you are comparing a rifle round to a slow old fashioned pistol round. Also your choice of 55grain is not realistic as nobody uses that other people at the range ...as its cheap.

just ballparking it in my head you're probably looking at around 400 lb-ft at 100 yards for both...

on the other hand, a typical .45 will drop something like 2 feet at 100 yards, and 3 feet at 150...so if you're planning on using it at those ranges a .45 is not a great choice.

Not like that really needed to be said, I don't think.

Edit: for the purposes of clarity given the ensuing war of words, I was assuming a 7.5" barrel on the .223 in this example.

AAAAh THIS is NOT correct. several people saw this stock at the shop in the white I will grant, but never the less, saw AND handled 1 PRIOR to your departure.
In FACT I still have the drawings and photos that mysteriously were deleted from the computer on the desk that YOU used to sit behind.

Guys, keep this off the board. Last warning. We dont want this mud slinging posted here.

Can't we all just play nice now?

Leave the melo drama to the lawyers and just talk guns!

Most importantly, when is that PDW stock going to be available for sale??

Is there a different barrel in that Hera kit? I have a Mechtech and the increased barrel length results in slightly higher muzzle velocity.

I think the dude meant holo sight.. no need to point out typos! :)
