PRS Match CDTSA Milo Range

Registered on the waitlist. Looks like a lot of effort going into this event and I'm willing to try it out if opportunity presents itself. I have a nice AR500 gong with cutout flappers I would consider bringing to add to the event roughy 2'X2' as well as a 4X4 plate also in AR500.

Registered... How do we send the $30?

P.S.: It took me 10 minutes to go through the magazine discussion and find the web site to register... Might help to update the first message and include the info.

P.S.2: I have 0.5" thick 6", 8", 12" and 16" AR500 gongs that I can bring if needed. Also have 3/8" thick 3" and IPSC torso but guys talking about .338 Lapua so those may not be suitable for this match...

Edit: looks like I'm in the waiting list... Let's wait...

Point noted. I have two 3/8" AR500 fullsize IPSC, one 3/8" AR500 10" gong, one 1/2" AR500 10" gong, and a Dueling tree of 3/8" AR500.

Doubt the tree would be any good, but maybe the others might be of interest?

I also am concerned with .338LM, especially under 200 on the 3/8"

Hey Guys, lots of stuff on the go here so if I am slow to respond I apologize.

Due to CFO restrictions the steel that is out there will be what is used for the match. I greatly appreciate the offers for more steel and it is something the club is looking at in the future (it has to do with shrouding). If possible it will be integrated into future matches.

In the rules there was an update on caliber restrictions
. For safety and the good of the club steel the is a .30 bullet size restriction. We also did this to bring us close in line with Official PRS rules out of the states. They have a caliber and FPS restriction (~3,150 FPS). We may be shooting at steel from 101 metres.

Ryan:

1. There was no information on CDTSA's comp rules regarding velocity. Only projectile size. Velocity is what dents AR500 due to the heat generated. I think its best we include a speed cap that aligns with PRS rules to protect club and personal steel. I'd also bump the "per steel price". As you know, these targets can exceed that price quickly.

Chapter 4-PRS Divisions and Classes
4.1 Open Division
4.1.1 Open Division rifles will not exceed a caliber of .30.
4.1.2 There are no other restrictions on the firearm to be used in the matches.
4.2 Ammunition
4.2.1 Tracer, incendiary, armor piercing, and steel jacketed or steel/tungsten core and steel shot ammunition are specifically not allowed and are prohibited.
4.2.2 A competitor found in violation of the above will be assessed a $100 fee for each steel target damaged. Fines will be made payable the day of the offense.

2. What's required from the CFO to be considered a temporary shroud? I've seen many different types from wood enclosures to wood/earth covers. Is there something we can build that would work and pass requirements? If so, something can maybe be done to make the event have many more options for shoots/COF.

I am not going to be bringing out my magnetospeed to check everyone's velocity so there is no real way to enforce this.

I would hazard a guess that we will see a lot of 308s and a lot of 6.5MM/6MM chamberings based off of a 308 case.

Anyone planning on bringing a magnum out there?

Something like a 22-250 is not a magnum. 4000 FPS will go through AR500 steel.

Having rules allows the club to charge fines if someone is breaking rules. Without rules, no charges. Look at our gun laws for example =P

I was planning on bringing my labradar....

Out of curiosity what will everyone be bringing.

I have 2 that I am considering.

1) My custom 6.5 Swede screwed together by the Chou Brothers - I have been using Lapua 139gr Scenars but I am doing some load development with 140gr Berger VLDs this weekend.
2) My TRG 22 - 178gr Amax over 44 grs of varget

At these distances I don't think there is a huge advantage of going to the 6.5.
