Team Bushmaster"

My understanding is that Bushmaster which is owned under the Freedom Group like Remington, DPMS, EOTAC and other companies will make the rifles for the public. Remington Military Products division is helping develop it and market it the military.

Magpul has only licensed the design to Bushmaster. Since Bushmaster is owned under the Freedom Group, Remington will market it to the military as they already have large military contracts and connections.

Bushmaster Firearms International, LLC (BFI) announced today that it has signed an exclusive license deal with Magpul Industries Corp. for the production, future development, and sales of Magpul’s prototype MASADA weapon system.
I'm no expert. I could be wrong here. This is only based on what I've read and found.

"We are not currently in the process of developing our own 6.5mm round for the AR platform. We have mentioned the 6.5 in our communications on the ACR simply because that platform is capable of handling the Grendel or something like it. At this point, there are no plans to chamber the ACR for the Grendel. However, that may change if we receive enough input from the marketplace to make it seem necessary."

Per Rich Fitzpatrick from Magpul, they are working on an aluminum lower...
"One the ACR the upper is the serialized part.

The lower with the grip is designed as the "issue" or "entry level" lower. It was designed to be as simple as possible for rapid manufacturing.

Other lowers with additional features are planned. Remington showed off a metal lower that took AR grips and other polymer lowers will also be available.

Switching lowers is very easy and you can even switch out the fire control group in under a minute thanks to the drop in trigger pack."

Dammit, the goofs at Dillon have had one of their skankers escape again.

Do ya perv out over the gun or the schmeeb? Sadly, these are the kind of questions that will confront you young bucks when you get older.

If it isn't the ammo supply giving out, it's the friggin ######....

'Will get a change to shoot one at the FB3G in a couple of weeks...

They have a stage where targets are engaged using an AMU provided ACR.

I immediately liked the original Magpul MASADA prototypes they had on display at SHOT. Liked the name and liked them in black. I know there are a lot who've partaken of the FN SCAR Kool-Aid, but I never could warm up to that rifle. The "Coyote" yellowish/brown colour, the blocky/bulky look of the receiver and the stock looked ugly as sin. I'm sure it'll shoot like gangbusters, but....

As much as the FN SCAR didn't interest me, I have to admit that I took an immediate shine to the MASADA. I wasn't too happy when Magpul signed the MOU with Bushmaster, I figured that was it and they'd screwed the pooch properly. Then Remington/Remington Military got involved. I'm still hoping things work out, but wish they'd go back to MASADA rather than ACR.

Magpul is a plastic company - not a firearms manufacturer. They were smart to license it - let those who have the expertise to handle manufacturing.

The FN SCAR has been tested to death - product maturity wise, it is definitely way ahead of the ACR.

X2. I liked the look of the MASADA better. Now it looks like a SCAR clone.

Personally I'll keep my Stag 2t, and add a Tavor to the collection. I don't see the ACR being better. Especially against the Tavor. If the price is anything like the SCAR will be, then the Tavor is the deal.

Rumour has it that the ACR might jump in price due to the the amount of money Remington is pouring into it for R&D and testing.

On the Remington version they got rid of the ambi two sided charge handle of the Bushmaster ACR and Magpul Masada? Why would they go with single-side(presumably reversible)?

On the topic of the charging handle, the Bushmaster version had a two piece design where the squeeze pinch of the two piece makes the hook effect on the bolt carrier for forward assist. Remington seems to have eliminated that.

I see they also went with more traditional folding backup iron sights. The Bushmaster project ACR had very flat folding sights.
