Canuckcooper icked up a new production Remington 700 BDL in 7mm Rem Mag. Very pleased with it so far. I like that the new versions have the Timney trigger and 1:8 twist. The new ball detent extractor attachment method is a nice touch.

Nice Rifle Bud - be sure to let us know how she shoots - Will be interesting to compare to the 7 PRC now that the 7RM has the Fast twist too . RJ

0.46 moa at 100 yards with 95 gr vmax over 45 or 45.5 gr of 4350. So it’s a sub moa rifle and I like it

Great news ! Mine shoots quite decent with factory loads and it would be great to see how it would do with reloads

I just picked up a used M700 BDL in .35Whelen.

It's well worn but that's not a concern to me, no need to worry about a few marks.

I'd like to figure out the year of manufacture.

2 letter code on the barrel is KJ, serial number starts with C.

I think the K means May and the J 1989? Can anybody help with that?

Used to have a .35Whelen but dummy that I am I sold it... so picking this up corrects that mistake.

So just re-mounted the scope that was on the previous rifle.

Ran into a little money, and a crossover 300 Win was missing from my collection.
Found a new production RER 700P for reasonable $$, really haven't found anything to complain about for build quality, fit and finish is quite nice, looks like pretty new tooling used as every cut is clean and straight, parkerized finish is even everywhere, no blems or anything. 24" 5R threaded barrel, Timney Elite Hunter trigger (2-4lbs), bore is a mirror, same HS stock as before, bolt slides like it's on greased rails.
Hopefully it's a good shooter, still debating on what glass to throw on it.
She shoots...and she's a hammer lol

You've got the BDL action and barrel in a Mountain Rifle stock. Didn't come that way factory but you have the year correct.

Here’s my 700’s, synthetic stock, not sure which model, been rebarrelled to a wildcat called 338-06 RCBS Improved. The only place that caliber is listed is in the mind of the gunsmith that made it lol. But it’s very similar ballistics to a 338 WinMag. Shoots really nice.

Lower is a 17Rem, shoots laser beam accurate, just over 4K fps with 25gr pills, around 4400 with 20’s. I put the tape on it cuz it’s got really nice original wood and I use it a fair bit so I don’t want to let it get really beat up.

Some of my better 700’s.
.280 from the Remington Custom shop (1972).
.300wsm sps used to be synthetic upgraded with CDL.
.270wsm sps also upgraded with CDL.
Model 7-.270wsm factory CDL.

And last also from the Remington Custom shop is a (1981)Classic Custom Deluxe 700 in 7x57mm with 20” barrel, custom checkering and 22” was the standard. Only 2018 TOTAL Classics were made in 7x57. A few from each Classic year were supposedly upgraded by CS but numbers are unknown.

My birthday gun; 1962 was the first year for the 700 and the first year for the 7RM. This rifle in 7RM was made in Oct. '62 and I was born on the first day of the Cuban missile crisis.

I see a few sticky’s for certain Firearms but for all the love of The Remington Model 700’s how come no sticky for them ?

How does the brake work as far as recoil reduction goes, does it feel like a 243, 308, 270, 30-06 ?

Not really that far fetched. My 300Wby with a brake is about a stiff 270 or mild ‘06 with 200gr.’ers.
