Hey guys, still waiting for mine this week. Apparently had some confusion in processing. Meh.

I'm going to mount a Vortex Vipes PST 6-24x50 and wanted to know what rings anybody has used with the same scope. Ideally the lowest possible is how I like it.

Good luck w/ that...
I've been waiting 10 yrs, for decent HR bottom metal compatible mags, "at a reasonable price".

If you don't get them now, while you can, you WILL suck hid T*T..
This is specialty kit, even in the US, let alone the Can market.
Get over it, and buck up for the US "landed here" price, or do w/o.

Your call, but don't expect the "mysteriously cheap Canadian manufactured knock off compatible mag" to appear anytime in your lifetime...

Gee, thanks for the scolding Mom. Ya, I'll get a mag because we're all f@cked into getting one. You do realize though, that one mag is 25% the cost of the rifle, right? It's not a computerized part for an Abrams tank.

Thank you so much to Ryan and all of your staff who made this deal happen. I know enough about the industry to guess that it was a whole lot of work for not that much money.

Others may speculate about Savage and their motivation, but I think you did it for the best of reasons.

Thank you.

Ben

Wow:sok2 a stock that will cost double what the rifle did!

Cant say I'm not envious but damit good taste is expensive

Haha, yeah, there’s just no getting around the “expensive” part in this hobby. EVERYTHING is expensive. Glass often costs more than the rifle, stocks sometimes cost the same, double or triple the rifle, then you have barrels that cost as much as a rifle, triggers that cost half the rifle, then labour to take it all apart and put it all back together is double or triple the cost of the rifle. Then you have to count ammo, and if you get into loading, you’re talking start up equipment and supplies. Of course there’s the range fees/memberships.....it’s a bottomless money pit.

Anyway, with this stock, I hope the ends justify the means. It’s supposed to eliminate the need to bed the action, it’s supposed to free float the barrel, it’s supposed to provide plenty of adjustment as far as LOP and comb is concerned, and mine will have the folding stock to ease cleaning and storage. The XLR takes AI mags which will be less costly than the Dark Eagle ones for $150 a pop. I’ll try to flip the Accustock for $100 on EE (seen two other guys do it already), I think that’s a fair price, and I’ll recoup some of the costs from the XLR. I figure it won’t be that much cheaper to find a MacMillan or HS Precision stock with adjustable LOP and comb, fit it to take AI mags, and glass bed the action. For me, the chassis costs a bit more, but then I don’t have to muck around with all the other stuff.

But yeah, it’s expensive, and I think that any of us that are here on CGN has expensive taste. Before I started shooting, I thought a $300 Norinco 1911 was expensive, and 50 rounds for $20 was a stupid way to spend your hard earned $$. Funny, my wife still thinks that way, haha!

I would love to get a Chey Tac Intervention. I don’t NEED one, primarily because I can’t afford one, nor will I be able to fully utilize its capabilities for years, maybe decades if ever, but if I had the money to toss around, I’d get one. For me, that’s expensive taste, but to someone in the right tax bracket, I guess that’s just a fart in the wind. The XLR chassis makes sense for me.........at least that’s what I keep telling myself, haha!

^MD> Sounds like it doesn't take much to run this rifle up to $2000 with your noted upgrades. Begs the question, better to upgrade or just cry once, spend 2G or 3G on a brand name precision rifle?

I haven't yet but will eventually get into a precision rifle. Likely do the cry once. Wonder what a budget of $3000 would buy me? or is it better to something like this 10TR and upgrade?
